I was never big into man caves. I’ve officially changed my mind.

In honor of Fathers’ Day this weekend, I wanted to share my favorite man cave from a few years ago.

Yes, your husband can have the custom poker table and Raiders-themed everything, if that’s his team. He should. It’s his home too.

But the best part is YOU just don’t have to look at it or worry about how it flows with the rest of the home.
That’s the point of designing for the way a family actually lives.

They came to me with a house full of walls and nowhere to gather. We took the walls down and rebuilt it around the life they actually wanted to live.

A well designed home improves the quality of how you live in it.

“greatly enhanced our family dynamics and mental health.”

A house can do that. 🤍

Now they gather around the kitchen island with their two little ones — homework, dinner, the everyday stuff — in a home that finally fits the way they live.

We love to create a master plan, maybe it happens at once, sometimes it’s phased over years. We work with our clients to create an overall design vision for their home and how they will use it. After some time the yard and front porch is complete and they couldn’t be happier.

There’s a reason my clients pour so much into their outdoor spaces. It’s the backdrop for the memories — where everyone gathers to barbecue, swim, watch a movie under the stars, and just be together.

Summer is when the days finally slow down. School’s out, the schedule loosens, the rushing stops. Family comes to visit. You remember what it feels like to simply be home together.

I think about my own summers when the kids were younger — sand everywhere, beach house trips to Ventura, reunions back East, pool days in the desert with friends. We made the most of everyday. 

That’s what I design for. Homes that flow naturally, built for everyday living — the kitchen where the slow mornings happen, where everyone piles in, where summer actually feels like summer.

If your home isn’t quite that place yet — the one that holds your family the way you want it to — this is a good season to start. 🤍

I have a secret, I wasn’t going to tell you BUT here I go…

I LOVE a white kitchen, and actually have one myself! 

Over the years, I’ve heard designers talk about NEVER designing another white kitchen again

Ready for my secret??? I  honestly love a well designed WHITE kitchen! 

They are timeless and classic, and want to know what else??? They still look good and people crave them even after 25+ years of designing them. 

BUT not every home calls for a traditional white kitchen, some crave more. 

We work with our clients to design the kitchen they have always been dreaming of, regardless of the color. 

Currently in design or ready to start construction we have:
* A traditional classic white kitchen with beautiful inset doors
* A coastal white kitchen
* A contemporary kitchen with rift cut white oak cabinetry 
* And 3 separate kitchens with varying shades of blue kitchens

The Design Decision That Changed This Primary Bathroom

We completely transformed this room by removing the unused, deep soaking tub, reallocating the existing space, creating:

* A luxurious, oversized walk-in shower.
* Separate His & Her vanities, with lots of  storage and space. No one wants to bump elbows when brushing your teeth.  

Prioritizing daily functionality over a never used tub completely changed the way this bathroom functions. We designed the new layout without adding square footage and reimagined the room. We kept the original fireplace intact to maintain a cozy connection to the primary bedroom.

And this  timeless design, already over 5 years old, was inspired by the client’s own collected art from the Laguna Sawdust Festival. Design is always beautiful when it reflects what you love!

Back in 2003 working in hospitality design (which was always my dream 🤩), and Designing the Sheraton LAX hotel, I found out I was expecting my first born, the one who would make me a mom and change my life forever 🥰my client shared with me “ it’s easier to raise a child than fix a child” This has stuck with me over the last 22 years, and it’s NOT easy but 💯worth it to invest in your children. I stepped back to focus on them and my family (and when the timing was right, my career began to grow again)they are what is MOST important and the driving force behind why I work so hard to create the best opportunities for each of them. My children are my everything, as a parent it’s hard to let them go and watch them fly, But that’s the point right??? Now that they are all almost all grow, blooming and thriving and the most amazing people I know, they don’t need as much of mom, I’m thankful for all the time I had with them( Thanks Greg )as they grew into the amazing people they all are today, even if they don’t remember the endless beach, park days and adventures….Thankful God choose me to be there Mom wouldn’t trade being their mom for anything. 🥰Happy Mother’s Day💕I

Not only is the kitchen the heart of the home, it’s where your family gathers and where memories are made. 

From raising your kids to entertaining your grandkids, this is where life happens. We transformed this kitchen to create the backdrop for the next generation. The large island connects seamlessly to the outdoors and creates a natural place for the grandkids to gather, eat, craft, and spend time together.

This project actually took us up to the Central Coast, where we helped this family create a kitchen that truly supports how they live, now and into the future.
