Putting a room together is a synthesis of budget, utility, client preferences, durability, and quality from trusted sources that I have spent 15 years developing. In the end it always comes together exactly as I imagined. Clients are thrilled and all the waiting, the emails, the samples, and the dreaded sit test were worth it. Here I am nine years ago at a photoshoot of a Queen Anne home. Thank you to Wynne H Earle for getting this shot.

Thrilled to have my North Seattle bedroom design receive a DOTY award from IDS Interior Design Society at their Awards Gala. The event was held on September 30th in Las Vegas. Creating this space depended my trusted vendors who created excellent product. I’ll be posting this project soon on my website. LoveWhereYouLive!

Showcasing this unique crosscut taj mahal quartzite became the main focus for palette and finish choices and the clients' wide collection of art. To bridge the gap between this striking new stone and the home’s existing stone floors, we wrapped the space in calm, rift-cut oak cabinetry. Embedded task lighting that displayed the stone turned out to be a technical challenge but boy, do I love a challenge! Heading to Highpoint Furniture Market HPMKT next week in North Carolina to catch up on new furniture and furnishing offerings. I make this trip annually to supplement to the trade options found at Seattle Design Center. I don’t use local big box retail sources for my designs because if you work with me you want something beyond mass produced items in your home. I tell clients I’m going to put together ideas that you wouldn’t come across on your own. If you want to spend your Saturdays wandering around a furniture store, an interior designer might not be for you. Also I don’t have a multi-person firm and rent where I need to worry about keeping everyone billable which translates into being nimble. Low overhead translates into value in pricing for treasured clients.

Are your weekend plans more armchair or sorta chaise lounge.... or both?? Proud to share a corner of a living in North Seattle just finished for lovely clients. Some last minute additions from spring High Point Market trip from from Currey & Company and Moss Home were included. The most yummiest of yummy (can you say that about a textile?) mango Pindler textile is on the bespoke arm chair. Custom area rug to fit a most challenging rectangular room by Melissa J Harris . *

Writing desk in a doctor’s bedroom. A special cut velvet on the back of the chair talked to the other textiles in the room. She was delighted to have a lovely place to catch up on the days work. This is one of my favorite project photos captured by AB Photo & Video sourced DFG

Our client want to create a lovely guest bathroom for her mum to visit. An upholstered seating area for her to sit if she needed was created behind the sink and adjacent to the shower. While the wallpaper stole the show I consider the most important part of this bathroom was inclusion of grab bars. You can see one in the adjacent shower.

I’m excited to learn I am a finalist for Interior Design Society Designer of the Year (DOTY) awards. Next Wednesday I’ll be flying to Las Vegas for the Gala at the Bellagio. This is a snap from last year’s gala in New Orleans where I was thrilled to receive two first place awards. This year I’m wearing a green dress. Can’t wait to celebrate with colleagues from our local IDS Seattle chapter.

Capture of our North Seattle kitchen. I still get a chuckle out of the color name for the tile - Elephant 🐘 This was a handmade tile that came in beautifully imperfect but the tile person was a true artisan on this project and made it work. Our cabinet shop hit it out of the park with grain matching. These clients expected the best and got it.
