Here some tips on how to elongate the lives of products you bought at PUBLIC:
+ Recharge your Wool Dryer Balls when they start to lose their firmness or shape by washing them in hot water and drying on the high heat setting. You can also add a few drops of essential oils to the Wool Balls when you recharge them to freshen them!
+ Keep your Natural Sea Wool Sponges fresh by making sure they get the chance to dry out between uses and soaking them in a mixture of one cup of water and one tablespoon of baking soda for about 15 minutes.
+ Revive your Kitchen Brushes by sanitizing in a vinegar soak (make sure you only soak the bristles not the wood!). Counter any spewing of the bristles by using a rubber band to reshape them overnight.

+ Bamboo Cotton Swabs from MABLE®! We often get the request for these or for silicone swabs, but the eco impact math isn’t quite there on the silicone versions of this type of product… plus you have to stay on top of cleaning them😅. These buddies are compostable and you can use them for so many uses!
+ The Reset Spray from Zerra & Co. | Zero Waste Makeup & Skincare! We been waiting for an eco-minded company to put out a hypochlorous acid spray, and one of our favorites finally did! We love this product for acne prone or sensitive skin. Use like a toner or to refresh and prevent breakouts after the gym. This is a rare exception to our rule of only bringing in products that are refillable in shop, but we do take the container back to be returned and hopefully a refill option is coming soon 🤞

A little whimsy for your Wednesday 🐚

We see containers of all shapes and sizes come into refill, but this laundry scoop was a new one! This shopper lost their laundry scoop and instead of replacing it with a new plastic one, they used a nearly perfectly-sized local oyster shell as their tablespoon.

This refill shop is truly filled with so much joy thanks to you all!

Every year we LOVE watching the go by our shop! This year, we’re setting up outside with free sunscreen!! ☀️

We’re thinking of it as a parade pit stop for participants and spectators to slather on some low-waste, reef-friendly SPF. Gotta keep West Seattle safe from sunburns 🙌. See you there tomorrow @ 11!
