My heart is so heavy for all that has happened from this horrific tragedy so close to home, here in Appalachia and in the southeast.
It seems insensitive to be grateful to have not been affected directly here in Gatlinburg but I am grateful to God. His mercy and Grace abounds and through the devastation I see all around me, just like the fires in 2016, the heart & hands of Jesus are shown through people showing up and showing out!
With a small business to keep a float and home full of kids of different ages, I’ve struggled to see where I could be of help in all of this. Not for a Pat on the back, just to bless someone, anyone, in need.
I do not have a lot to offer. I also know there are a lot of places turning donations of clothing and such away. There’s been so many posts of people posting for individual families that they are aware of that need specifics but it’s hard to keep up with everything you’ve seen during this, so I’m putting it out here this way. If you or someone you know could use somethings in particular from Lainey’s please reach out.
I have:
Baby girl clothes sizes 0-12 months
Women’s clothing from 2-24, xs-3x
very few men’s clothing m-xl
Women’s shoes 7.5-9
Few baby items including a play pen, play mats, boppy pillow, baby tub, a few small bottles, some small size diapers
Few toys
Some camping/ older pots & pans
Camping coffee percolator
Dishes
And could gather a few blankets as well
I know that the needs closer to home have been mainly for food, water, cleaning supply, plastic ware, paper goods etc in bulk, but even if my store can help just one family we want to do so.
If you know of a family any of these things might can help with, please stop in or message me. I can get together what I have or even reach out around me to friends and family also unaffected to see if we can gather it up. Like I said I won’t be able to do much, just want to be the hands and heart of Jesus to someone if possible.
And to my out of town friends, if you are able, please come support business here as you normally would. And if possible even donate to Cocke county business to be able to re-open. Sevier county was extremely blessed to not be hit the way our neighbors were. Many of the people that live in the areas, like newport & Cosby that were heavily affected, work here in Gatlinburg/ pigeon forge though and rely heavily on October through the holidays to put money up for winter to keep the lights on and their families fed. Sevier county still absolutely needs your patronage. Please spread the word that we are here, we are open and we welcome you.
