Today filled my heart to the brim.

A huge thank‑you to the Wyoming County Board of Education especially Rhonda Thomas, for inviting me to be part of the Vittles Market. It was such a gift to share my passion for basketry with so many bright, curious young people.

All morning long I heard the sweetest things —
✨ “I had no idea basketry could be so cool.”
✨ “These are beautiful!”
✨ “I want to learn how to do this.”

Moments like these remind me why I weave. Basketry is more than a craft — it’s heritage, patience, creativity, and the joy of making something with your own hands. Seeing students light up, lean in, and imagine themselves creating… that’s the kind of magic that stays with me.

Thank you for hosting such a special event and for valuing Appalachian arts and traditions. My heart is full.

🦫 Teeth Marks of the Riverbank 🦫

This sweet gathering basket carries a tale only nature could write. The handle was shaped by a hungry beaver, and if you lean in close you can still see every tiny tooth mark he left behind. I dropped off a fresh new batch of baskets at the Tamarack Marketplace today and while I was there, I wandered through the gallery, did a little shopping, and paused for a moment to see my pieces displayed among the work of so many gifted artisans.

There’s a special kind of joy in recognizing your own hands in a place that celebrates Appalachian craft. Today felt like a soft reminder that the work we make truly finds its way.
