This is what you look like after "mold digging" after two hrs when it's 90 degrees out and high humidity, but it's the day scheduled a couple weeks ago - it's not glorious, it's hot, dirty and a lot of work.
You open each mold to see what it is. The molds usually have been sitting for 10-20 years, neglected and waiting for someone to bring them back to life. The buildings are usually dusty and dirty and have seen better days in most cases.
This is the 5th load, a bit smaller than the others, in the last six weeks. I do it to save these treasures and bring beautiful casted pieces to you - just like a lot of yesterday's live sales pieces.
Many of the companies no longer exist, a handful of companies still have the masters available to create new molds, and only a very few companies still create new releases.
I dig for the unique, cute ones, taking a chance all of you want the fired pieces after all that work!
My favorite find today was a Glenview Xmas tree, similar to the Atlantic boobie tree and another part to a stacked Holland tree.
