As we prepare for "GET DECKED" our upcoming holiday activation, we've discovered so many fun, bizarre and beautiful ornaments and decorative seasonal objects. Here's one of our favorites - a glass ornament of a box of glass ornaments! How perfectly meta! The most common of ornaments is the ever elegant glass ball, which traces their lineage to Germany.
🎄
German glass ornaments originated in the village of Lauscha, where 16th–19th century glassblowers transformed old folk traditions—like hanging apples and gilded nuts on “paradise trees”—into delicate hand-blown baubles. Through innovations in silvering and molding, these artisans created the shimmering fruits, figures, and spheres that soon spread across Europe and America, becoming iconic symbols of holiday décor. At Studio Hinterland, we look to these ornaments as small but enduring reminders of how craft, culture, and memory shape the way we celebrate and beautify our homes.

Come celebrate the holidays with us and share your childhood memories of the aesthetic of the season! We'll be *Getting Decked* all weekend! ✨❄️🥂
