Here are seven “starter” questions to ask your kitchen designer/installer:
➡Who is measuring the space—and who is responsible for verifying those measurements?
A small measurement mistake can become a very expensive problem once cabinetry arrives.
➡Will I see the kitchen in 3D before I order?
Floor plans are important, but realistic 3D views can help you understand proportions, clearances, finishes, and how the room will actually feel.
➡Are you designing around how I use my kitchen?
Where do you prep? Where do groceries land? Where does the trash go? How many people cook at once? Good design starts with your daily routine.
➡What exactly is included in the price?
Ask about cabinetry, trim, hardware, delivery, installation, measurements, drawings, adjustments, and anything that could become an additional charge later.
➡Who coordinates the details with the other trades?
Cabinetry has to work with plumbing, electrical, appliances, flooring, countertops, and construction. Someone needs to make sure those pieces and pricing work together.
➡Who will actually install my cabinetry?
Beautiful cabinets still require a skilled installer. Ask who performs the installation, how experienced they are, and who handles questions or issues in the field. How detailed is the kitchen plan they will receive?
➡What happens if something doesn’t go according to plan?
Remodeling can uncover surprises. A good team should have a clear process for solving problems, communicating changes, and keeping the project moving.
The right questions before your project begins can prevent a lot of questions once construction starts.
