Walnut and maple engrain.

Pullled 2 or 3 pieces from all the other boards to make one more, a bonus board. Not quite chaos, but random-ish.

Might add finger holds or juice grooves or feet someday. If I do I'll refinish.

Perfect 1.5x1.5x1.5 checkerboard endgrain!

This is the last of the "checkerboard" endgrains, and somehow this one was a little more special to me as I really couldn't decide if I wanted to make it a cutting board or a checker board.

This walnut and maple board is exactly 1.5" x 1.5" x 1.5". The design is simple, but all the thought and planning that goes into the detail at each stage that allows the end product to have perfectly equal squares so the align perfectly. These might be the most difficult and precise boards I make.

This board was a LOOONNNGGGG time in the making and I was getting worried it would dry and crack. So I've "finished" it, for now. Somday if I sell it or give it away I'll customize it for the end user. Maybe add feet, or a juice groove or finger details, and my logo.

Walnut and maple engrain. A LONG TIME in the making, or at least finishing. And now I'm worried that if I dont finish it it will dry and warp or crack.

So, sanded to 320, raising the grain, then final gentle sanding at 400. Before a mineral oil bath.

Might add finger holds or juice grooves or feet someday. If I do I'll refinish.

Christmas Eve 2022 our van caught on fire after replacing some fuses and accidentally using the wrong one. Thanks to our neighbors having a fire extinguisher and coming to our rescue we were able to control the fire until the fire department came and put it out.

I saved some of the glass and a hood ornament, and a few months later I encased it in epoxy, then waited for 3 years before I decided it was finally time to get it sanded up and out.

During that time the epoxy had yellowed so now I wish I remember what kind of epoxy I was using back in those days.

Dry sanded 80 - 800. Wet sanded 2000 - 10,000 (I was out of 1000). Automotive polish and done.

Raising the grain or water pop?

What do you call it? Is there a difference?
