I’ve come to realize that some of the most meaningful journeys in my life have happened without ever leaving the studio.

I’ve always been drawn to the way light moves through glass, how transparency can reveal something while still keeping part of it hidden. Maybe that’s why I keep returning to it.

When I paint, I’m not simply creating an image. I’m entering another space.

A pattern can take me back to something centuries old. A piece of architecture can make me think about belonging, memory, or distance. Light can completely change what I thought I had painted.

And sometimes, somewhere between the layers of glass, color, reflection, and pattern, I find myself somewhere else entirely.

With every piece, I enter a space that didn’t exist before.
And sometimes, I come out knowing myself a little differently.

There’s something about working with transparent layers that feels like navigating life’s transitions. Nothing is ever completely hidden or completely gone.

Art study and research are where much of the mental heavy lifting in my art process happens, but they are also what makes the painting meaningful to me. I need to understand what I’m painting and why, even when I’m working with something as small as a single motif.
