Halloween should be spooky. Your electrical setup shouldn’t be.

Before plugging in lights, inflatables and other decorations, take a few minutes to check cords, plugs and bulbs for damage. Use outdoor-rated extension cords outside, keep connections dry, avoid overloading outlets or daisy-chaining cords, and make sure outdoor outlets are GFCI-protected.

LED lights can also reduce energy use and heat, and you should turn off or unplug decorations when they’re not in use.
