In the words of Glorilla... LET 'EM COOK‼️

My fam, Houston Branding Videographer & Photographer, did his big one highlighting our Juneteenth Culinary Experience last month.

This was more than an event...it was an intentional collaboration that has already delivered returns for attendees🙌🏾

And to my partners...I'm forever grateful for helping me bring it to life.

And at the center of it all…Chef Chrissy of Chrispea Catering, LLC. This experience was intentionally curated to highlight her talent and storytelling through food.

The energy, the design, the conversations… it all came together because the right people were in the room.

And this is just the beginning‼️

Something new is coming soon for creatives ready to expand their network and be seen in more intentional spaces.

For now… take a look at what we created and drop some love in the comments🥰

Today is the Fourth of July, and I’m reflecting on what freedom in this country has really looked like.

Just weeks ago, we gathered for a Juneteenth Culinary Experience here in Houston to honor June 19, 1865, when the last enslaved people in Galveston, Texas were finally notified of their freedom.

The evening was everything it needed to be. Beautifully designed, thoughtfully curated, and filled with incredible food, meaningful connections, and even better conversations.

Grateful to our partners and sponsors who helped bring it to life Ferguson Home, Sarah Prazak- Luxury Sales Monogram Appliances, Chrispea Catering, LLC, Fields and Jackson, LOMÉA HOME, The Branch Design Group, Benjamin Moore, Kravet, Helmwood, and Fabricut

Moments like this are a reminder that honoring American history means telling the full story and creating space for it to be experienced, not just remembered.

Still sitting with it… and this is only a glimpse of what was created.

I've spent the past few days reflecting on last week's panel at Fabricut and my heart & mind is still FULL🥰

• Benjamin Johnston Design Some conversations stay with you. This one will — and you can be part of the next.

Sherrell Neal of Sherrell Design Studio, Letecia Ellis Haywood Interiors, and Rhonnika Clifton of R J Clifton Designs, LLC Interior Design + Build Firm joined me to share their journeys, their mentors, and the wisdom that's shaped how they lead. I had the honor of moderating as the 2026 High Point Market Diversity Advocacy Alliance Chair.

Houston was honored to host this kickoff event. The conversation continues in Atlanta on June 23, where Erika Hollinshead Ward sits down with Kelly Finley of Kelly Finley-Joy Street Design, Calvin Watt of The C'VION COMPANY, and Olivia Westbrooks Interiors for Designing Legacy and Opening Doors.

Thank you to Fabricut for sponsoring this speaker series and championing exceptional creatives across the industry.

Mentorship has always been personal for me.

As the inaugural recipient of the Diversity Advocacy Alliance Mentorship Award, this honor meant so much more than a market moment. It was a reminder that every conversation, introduction, encouragement, and act of advocacy can help move this industry forward.

And passing the honor to my colleague and friend was even more special because when one wins, we ALL win🙌🏾

Now, I am so excited to see who will be next to receive that honor.

The 2026 DAA Awards are open for nominations, celebrating impact across three meaningful categories: Open Arms, Mentorship, and Social Responsibility. Each one reflects the kind of leadership, care, and community this industry needs more of.

If you know someone who deserves to be seen and celebrated, nominate an industry peer, colleague, or yourself.

Nominations close July 8.

Y'all, I am still sitting with this one.

Last Thursday's Designing for a Neurodivergent Mind was not just an event...it was a reminder that there are people in our industry who genuinely want to do better. Who want to think deeper. Who are willing to invest in educating themselves on something new.

The room felt safe, curious, and extremely intentional. We talked about wellness in the space. Not as a trend or buzzword, but as responsibility. We unpacked how our designs impact regulation, focus, comfort, and everyday life.

And the people who showed up…showed TF UP‼️

✨️Designers ✨️Industry partners ✨️Colleagues ✨️Vendors ✨️Leaders

And you know it's not a event if we didn’t have good food, fellowship, drinks, and vibes.

A huge thank you to West Elm-Rice Village for hosting us and for navigating the workshop with such care and clarity. You both created space for real dialogue.

This is why Creative Conversations exists🙌🏾

If you were in the room, thank you for choosing growth and if you couldn't make it, stay close...there's more coming.

I said something on the Lessoms Learned + Profits Earned panel at that really stuck with me after…

I’ve mopped floors at McDonald’s.
I’ve cleaned toilets at Pottery Barn.
I’ve worked admin in corporate. I’ve done sales. I’ve done a little bit of everything.

And the truth is…none of it was a waste.

I’ve pulled from every single season of my life and used it in my business.

But the biggest thing I’ve learned about myself?

I had to get real about what I’m good at…and what I’m not.

Not in a self-deprecating way. Just honest.

Because a lot of us walk around saying “I got it, I can do everything.” And I had to tell myself...no, you can’t.

And that actually helped me.

It helped me look at other people differently and say, “Wait…you’re really good at that. I’m not. Let’s work together.”

That shifted everything for me.

But if I’m being honest, there’s another side to it too…

There are moments where I shrink.

Not because I don’t know who I am…but because I do.

And sometimes when you know your power, you also feel when people don’t know what to do with it. And instead of standing in it, I’ve had moments where I’ve pulled back… made myself smaller… tried to make it more comfortable for the room.

Yeah… I’ve done that.

But I’m learning…Don’t. Do. That!

Don’t shrink for anybody.

What’s in you is there on purpose. You don’t have to tone it down, water it down, or second guess it.

You just have to walk in it.

Fully.

And I’m still learning that…every day.

If you can relate, drop me a note in the comments, let's chat.
