Mentorship has always been personal for me.

As the inaugural recipient of the Diversity Advocacy Alliance Mentorship Award, this honor meant so much more than a market moment. It was a reminder that every conversation, introduction, encouragement, and act of advocacy can help move this industry forward.

And passing the honor to my colleague and friend was even more special because when one wins, we ALL winšŸ™ŒšŸ¾

Now, I am so excited to see who will be next to receive that honor.

The 2026 DAA Awards are open for nominations, celebrating impact across three meaningful categories: Open Arms, Mentorship, and Social Responsibility. Each one reflects the kind of leadership, care, and community this industry needs more of.

If you know someone who deserves to be seen and celebrated, nominate an industry peer, colleague, or yourself.

Nominations close July 8.

Y'all, I am still sitting with this one.

Last Thursday's Designing for a Neurodivergent Mind was not just an event...it was a reminder that there are people in our industry who genuinely want to do better. Who want to think deeper. Who are willing to invest in educating themselves on something new.

The room felt safe, curious, and extremely intentional. We talked about wellness in the space. Not as a trend or buzzword, but as responsibility. We unpacked how our designs impact regulation, focus, comfort, and everyday life.

And the people who showed up…showed TF UPā€¼ļø

āœØļøDesigners āœØļøIndustry partners āœØļøColleagues āœØļøVendors āœØļøLeaders

And you know it's not a event if we didn’t have good food, fellowship, drinks, and vibes.

A huge thank you to West Elm-Rice Village for hosting us and for navigating the workshop with such care and clarity. You both created space for real dialogue.

This is why Creative Conversations existsšŸ™ŒšŸ¾

If you were in the room, thank you for choosing growth and if you couldn't make it, stay close...there's more coming.

Type "JOIN" below to get on the mailing list to stay updated on future activations.

Continue investing in your knowledge. Continue building with awareness. Continue showing up.
We are just getting started.

I said something on the Lessoms Learned + Profits Earned panel at that really stuck with me after…

I’ve mopped floors at McDonald’s.
I’ve cleaned toilets at Pottery Barn.
I’ve worked admin in corporate. I’ve done sales. I’ve done a little bit of everything.

And the truth is…none of it was a waste.

I’ve pulled from every single season of my life and used it in my business.

But the biggest thing I’ve learned about myself?

I had to get real about what I’m good at…and what I’m not.

Not in a self-deprecating way. Just honest.

Because a lot of us walk around saying ā€œI got it, I can do everything.ā€ And I had to tell myself...no, you can’t.

And that actually helped me.

It helped me look at other people differently and say, ā€œWait…you’re really good at that. I’m not. Let’s work together.ā€

That shifted everything for me.

But if I’m being honest, there’s another side to it too…

There are moments where I shrink.

Not because I don’t know who I am…but because I do.

And sometimes when you know your power, you also feel when people don’t know what to do with it. And instead of standing in it, I’ve had moments where I’ve pulled back… made myself smaller… tried to make it more comfortable for the room.

Yeah… I’ve done that.

But I’m learning…Don’t. Do. That!

Don’t shrink for anybody.

What’s in you is there on purpose. You don’t have to tone it down, water it down, or second guess it.

You just have to walk in it.

Fully.

And I’m still learning that…every day.

If you can relate, drop me a note in the comments, let's chat.

Women’s History Month is my favorite time of year because it reminds us of something powerful...

When women support women, magic happensāœØļø

šŸ’”Ideas grow.

šŸ«¶šŸ¾Communities grow.

So today, tag a woman whose work you admire or who is building something amazing.

Wow...

I’m still sitting here in awe from last Thursday night.

The Reside & Design Expo: Black Heritage Edition was one of those moments where you look around the room and think…okayyy, see THIS is exactly why I started Creative Conversations in the first place😃

The room was full...Builders, architects, interior designers, realtors, stagers, entrepreneurs, students, creatives! Full of people leaning in, asking questions, sharing stories, laughing, connecting...over real conversations about this industry we all love and the work it takes to build something meaningful in it.

Our panelists kept it honest about their journeys, which at times was heartbreaking, but allowed for beautiful narratives to be unveiled.

The vendors created beautiful little moments throughout the space with their vignettes and our student design charrette reminded me that the next generation is already stepping up with bold ideas and fresh perspective. Huge congratulations again to our grand prize winner, Courtney OkološŸŽ‰šŸŽ‰šŸŽ‰

And none of this happens without the people who believe in the vision. I’m so grateful to our sponsors who helped bring this night to life. Floor & Decor Design Studio, Franny’s Bartending, West Elm- Rice Village, Midcity Group & Co., Septra’s Studio, the HFB D.I.V.A.S., and Right Time Solutions. THANK YOU!

A big thank you also goes out to my community advocates...the Greater Houston Black Chamber, She Builds Futures, Goldman Sachs 10K Small Businesses, and Design Dasher. Thank you for your support of building diversity, equity, and inclusion with the A&D industry.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you to everyone who came out, supported, spoke, volunteered, partnered, and poured into this space with me (if i missed you, please charge it to my head and not my heart).

Houston showed up and I’m grateful🄰

More moments from the night coming soon, but in the meantime, check out this recap courtesy of šŸ”„šŸ”„šŸ”„
