John F. Kennedy once spoke about taking the time to thank the people who make a difference in our lives.

Swades in the States was our way of doing exactly that. A small thank you to the communities of New Jersey and New York, and to everyone across the United States who has welcomed us into their homes, kitchens, and lives.

To everyone who joined us, thank you for spending your day with us. And to the team at Rani Indian Restaurant, Lounge, & Bar , thank you for opening your doors so generously and helping bring this gathering to life.

We came carrying gratitude and left carrying memories. Until next time.

Happenstance means something that happens by chance, without being planned. A lovely word for days like this. There were no invitations, no registrations, and no real expectation of what would happen next.

Thank you to everyone who spent a part of their day with us, and to for so generously opening their doors and making it possible.

We showed up with , a pot of payasam, and no idea how the morning would unfold. And honestly, that’s what made it so special.

Some people stopped because they were curious. Some stayed back for a conversation. Some came for a taste and ended up sharing stories about food, family, and home.

To everyone who joined us, thank you. You made this far more memorable than we could have planned. And a special thank you to for welcoming us into their space and making this happen.

We’ll carry this one with us for a long time.

Today’s class on copper begins with a word that’s a tongue-twister to pronounce:

THE OLIGODYNAMIC EFFECT

Sounds dramatic. Slightly dangerous. Definitely like something that would show up in a chemistry exam nobody studied for. But the idea behind it is actually quite fascinating.

Certain metals, like copper, naturally affect the survival of some microbes and bacteria over time. Which is one of the reasons copper continues being studied for its antimicrobial properties even today. And honestly, once you start reading about copper, you realise this material is doing much more than simply looking beautiful on kitchen shelves.

It reacts. Changes over time. Interacts with water differently. Even behaves differently from most modern materials we use every day. Which perhaps explains why people are beginning to look at copper differently again. Not just as something traditional, but as a material worth understanding better.

Anyway, congratulations. You officially survived today’s science class on copper.

Curious though:
Had you ever heard of the Oligodynamic Effect before this?

Over the last few days, while bringing back our Copper Water Bottle, we’ve realised something interesting that people are no longer looking at these bottles merely as “traditional products”. They’re looking at them more thoughtfully now. Asking better questions. Understanding materials better. Paying attention to what they interact with every single day.

Which is exactly why this redesign mattered so much to us. We wanted the bottle to feel better balanced in the hand. Easier to carry. More refined in silhouette. More intuitive for everyday use. And honestly, seeing this bottle return in a more evolved form feels quite special to us.

If you’ve already checked out the new Copper Water Bottle on our website, we’d genuinely love to know what’s your favourite detail about the redesign so far?

We’ve genuinely had people tell us, “My copper bottle still looks exactly the same after years.” And every single time, our first instinct is to ask if it’s actually even copper.

Because real copper changes. It develops character. It reacts naturally over time. It may darken slightly, lose some of that factory-new shine, and begin carrying subtle marks from everyday use. That’s not damage. That’s the material behaving like the material is supposed to.

Which is also why we felt this conversation was important while bringing back our Copper Water Bottle. There’s so much noise in the market today around “copper finish” products that many people have genuinely stopped knowing what real copper even looks and feels like anymore. So here’s a simple thing to remember:

Copper is not a colour. It’s a material. And once you understand the difference, you begin looking at these bottles very differently.

When we first launched our Copper Water Bottle, we honestly did not expect it to become such a loved part of people’s everyday lives. And perhaps that’s exactly why we felt responsible for redesigning it properly.

Over the last few months, we found ourselves quietly obsessing over details most people may never consciously notice. The grip. The proportions. The balance in the hand. The way it sits on a work desk. The way it feels while carrying it through the day. Because when something becomes part of your daily routine, design starts mattering differently.

So this upgrade was never about making the bottle look dramatically different. It was about making the experience feel better. Cleaner. More intuitive. More refined to live with every single day.And honestly, bringing it back in this new form feels quite special to us.

Would genuinely love to know if you have checked out the new Copper Water Bottle yet? And if you have, what’s the first thing you noticed about it?

Many of you asked for it after the workshop, so here it is. Chef Natasha’s biryani recipe, the very one that filled the room with irresistible aromas and had everyone coming back for seconds.

Now it’s your turn. Cook it, make it your own, add your signature touch, and let us know how it turns out. We’d love to see your versions.

An afternoon filled with conversations, familiar faces, new friendships, shared stories, and of course, a lot of biryani. Seeing so many members of the P•TAL community come together in New York reminded us that no matter where we are in the world, food has a beautiful way of making us feel at home.

A huge thank you to Chef Natasha Gandhi, our Chief Culinary Partner, for bringing everyone together, and to every single person who joined us and made this gathering so special.

P•TAL’s offline journey has only just begun in USA, and we’re excited to take it to more cities, meet more of you, and continue building a community that celebrates food, culture, craftsmanship, and meaningful connections.

Here’s to many more tables, many more stories, and many more moments shared together.
