Hartstone Pottery moved to Zanesville in the late ‘70’s. We have always made our own clay, paints and glazes and everything is hand painted. We have down sized our store but still features first quality products and seconds.

Traditional glazed stoneware like Ohio Stoneware products should not be seasoned the same way as cast iron. Cast iron is a porous metal, so baked-on oil bonds to the surface and creates that non-stick patina. Stoneware is already vitrified (glass-like) during firing, so oil won’t bond in the same way.
