The raw, industrial space features exposed slab ceilings in addition to exposed HVAC and electrical components. The space proved to be an interesting challenge because of the shadows created by the many mechanical interferences and obstructions. The goal of the project was to evenly illuminate the perimeter walls while eliminating the shadows.

Keewaydin, a 10-acre estate that was formerly a 30-acre property known as Claverack, was built in 1892 and designed by American architect Stanford White of McKim, Mead & White. The landscape architect on the original property was Frederick Law Olmsted of Olmsted & Company.

The team at Orsman Design illuminated the interior of the home in addition to the landscaping to coincide with the current owner’s complete interior and exterior renovation of the property.
