Tip #2 in Problems, Causes and Treatments:

Cloudy Water

Causes:
High pH, alkalinity, calcium or TDS levels
Reduced filtration
Heavy bather load
Dead Algae

Treatment:
Reduce levels or add fresh water to dilute
Check for blockages/Change filter element
Super chlorinate with a chlorine shock for chlorine pools or use the boost or super chlorinate function on the salt system.

The Malibu is part of our Flat Bottom pool collection. Rather than have a shallow end that gives way to a deep end (or hopper) we designed the Malibu with a consistent 3′ 9″ depth. This depth of water is excellent for young and old swimmers alike.

By creating a shallow area for swimmers, we’ve created a safe space that is excellent for swim lessons and water aerobics. Everyone can have a great time in the Malibu: from relaxing to aerobic activity.

The Malibu has a particularly small footprint. This fiberglass pool is compacted into an overall dimension of 11′ 1″ wide by 21′ 4″ long. That’s a pretty decent length despite its total water volume of only 5,025 Gallons. Its small volume is mainly due to its shallow depth from the flat bottom design.

Now that Mother Nature has started to warm up and everyone is starting to think about the pool season again, we thought we would offer up some helpful tips for the pool season.

Tip #1 Problems & Possible Cause & Solution

Algae Green, Black, Yellow (Mustard), or Pink Algae

Treat with algaecide - Clear Results Poly Clear 60 for green; Clear Results Copper Clear (use sparingly) and for severe black and Mustard algae use Clear Results Mustard Clear (Contact your dealer for directions)

Super chlorinate - with a Chlorine Shock or for salt systems use a Non Chlorine Shock such as Clear Results Oxidizing Non Chlorine Shock. DO NOT use liquid chlorine in a Non Salt Pool and if you use in a Salt pool make sure that your cell is disconnected from the power source to avoid any damages to the cell.

Wow, what a whirlwind of a January! It is with mixed emotions that we announce that we have sold the retail portion of Southern Tropics Pools & Spas to Azure Pools. They will be taking over our location, this will be their 2nd location. Southern Tropics Pools & Spas is still in business, we are still building pools, we are continuing maintenance of pools and spas and we will continue to provide liner installations and repairs on pool equipment. We will continue to be the area warranty reps for Hayward, Pentair and Jandy. The phone number for Southern Tropics Pools & Spas will remain the same, 910-692-5200. We are very thankful for the last 15+ years that we have been able to serve Moore County and the surrounding areas with the pool store. We are looking forward to continuing our service to our awesome customers, that have become our family and to the people of Moore County.
