Before everything changes...

These portraits were created in 2021. Each time I look back and see them, I smile. I remember how rambunctious this boy was. I remember the challenge and I was up for it.

The Kerra Fischer Portraits Experience starts with a Session Planning Meeting. This meeting is crucial step where we get to know each other and create a vision for your portrait session. From styling to deciding where your artwork will live. Every step of the way is carefully thought through.

This isn't a quick, meet me in the park or on the beach... then send me 100 files that I just quickly uploaded... situation.
Each final selected image is chosen carefully for the details. Each image you will view at your Ordering Appointment is meant to LIVE where you can see it. Not on a screen. But a tangible item that you can see every day.

Some call this a "Luxury" experience. I think of it as a full service experience and one that is dying in today's age. I recently spoke to someone who was so sad because her daughter didn't get a beautiful leather portrait album from her wedding. Only files... and they were printed at CVS. Absolutely broke my heart! So many are quick to make a cheap dollar and leave people with no real keepsake for the memory. In the worst cases, people lose track of those files. So what was it all for?

This special portrait project spotlights the ART of dance. The hours of practice. The determination. The confidence. The lessons. The victories. The LEGACY.

I’m looking for 10–15 young dancers to participate in The HeArt of Dance, a special portrait artist project celebrating their love of dance and the individual stories behind the dancer.

You don’t have to be the “best” dancer. You just have to love to dance. Open to children age 6-18 who participate in dance classes in the Brunswick & New Hanover County areas.

Why do I photograph CHILDREN the most?

This question comes up for me often. I either ask myself or someone interested in my work asks.

WHY..

I think in some small way, it heals a part of me. There is nothing more wonderful than seeing a little girl sparkle. A little boy stand taller. Seeing something awaken in them that they didn't know was there. A sense of meaning. A sense of worth. A sense that they are loved.

How does it heal me?

Because I was that little girl who felt ugly. Who felt unworthy. Who felt shunned because of my differences. I carry that with me now... still. I think I gravitate towards child portraits because I want to be one to plant seeds in these children that they are more precious than jewels. They are worth the time. Their lives matter. They are seen and loved just for who they are. I help to guide parents to help with styling and artwork decisions... which is the necessary steps of the process... but the DEEPER MEANING... is that I am celebrating these children and helping their parents plant very important seeds.

Whether we are celebrating a 6 year old and indulging in the fairytale fantasy or we are photographing a 10 year old who is now noticing they are different from their friends... searching for their place to belong in society... every stage matters.

The session is fun and the space is comfortable and accepting. The experience is memorable and the artwork is exquisite.

BUT... the transformation. The seeds that are planted... are PRICELESS... the memories created are special and when your child sees themselves hanging on the wall... they will know, even on the hard days... that they are LOVED.

And that is the most important part of this photographic journey.

There is something special about the relationships that are built in this business. When someone chooses you to be their photographer, it is more than just a transaction.

At least for me...it is. Sometimes the moment comes when you need to "hire a photographer". That is what prompts you to start searching.

What most people don't realize is, finding YOUR photographer can lead to years of connection. I love to celebrate the wins and the milestones. I love to encourage and build confidence. I love to create the ARTWORK that will stay with you for generations.

For the Dixon Family, I am so thankful that I was able to create senior portraits for all three of their amazing children. First Trace, then Reagan and finally, this year, before the move south, Reese.
We made sure to get her finished up... because it was SO IMPORTANT to be there for those milestones.

I am looking forward to creating these connections here in Brunswick County, North Carolina. This family and many others from Ohio started with child portraits. The trust was created and I naturally worked with them for their next important milestones. I hope to one day photograph them again for future milestones in my visits back to Ohio or if they want to come see me by the beach... I care about each one of the clients I have served over the years. Distance doesn't change that.
