Meet Me! Kevin Raber, the Creative Behind Noel’s Nook.

It all starts right here in our community. I partner with local tree services to salvage logs that would otherwise be discarded. But instead of letting them go to waste, the real magic begins at the sawmill. I mill them into unique lumber and beautiful slab pieces, uncovering the natural, unrefined character of each piece of wood.

That’s where my imagination takes over. I let the creative process guide my talent, transforming these raw slabs into one-of-a-kind furniture and home decor that you won't find anywhere else. I love taking the unique story each log has to tell and letting it 'bloom' into a finished product.

Cheryl, my wife recently gathered up a collection of work-in-progress photos taken over a 12 year span—documenting the journey when my son, Arthur, and I began building our carport and house completely from scratch. No store bought wood except for the roofing.

No fancy pre-bought blueprints here. I sketched out the concept on a basic piece of copy paper, handed it over to Planning & Zoning, and got the green light. What started as a 32'x32' footprint eventually grew into a custom home, complete with a 300sqft sunroom extension, hand-milled timber, and custom carved woodwork.

While I’m not looking to build whole houses from the ground up these days, I love sharing this to highlight what hands-on experience, practical design knowledge, and years of craftsmanship can create.

At 67, my focus has shifted toward smaller, custom, and more intimate building projects. Stay tuned—I’ll be sharing more about these upcoming endeavors in my next few posts!
