Installed an underground 100A service for a tiny home yesterday. Knew there was a water line in the vicinity feeding a yard spigot and tried to find it where I thought it was, but hit it anyway. Fixed the water line and pressure tested it before burying it back. Part of the service runs under a driveway, so buried it at 2 feet in that section and at least 18" everywhere else.

Shout out to Walker's Hardware and Lumber in Langley (https://www.facebook.com/share/1F5jZteQjs/) for the mini excavator rental. Good equipment at a good price. Barely used any diesel.

Customer had a tree trimming service come out and drop some branches. Unfortunately, one of them landed on the overhead service. After examining the problem, discovered that it pulled the neutral wire out of a crimp connector. Loss of neutral connection caused overvoltage of 208V on one leg. Popped a couple of GFCI receptacles, killed the microwave, a clock radio, and a plug-in surge arrestor. Got the power company out to reconnect the neutral wire and replaced the microwave this morning.

If you have something similar happen to you, the best course of action is to turn off your main breaker to minimize damage to any systems that cannot operate much above 120 volts and call a local, licensed electrician to ascertain the damage. SOMETIMES, the 2-pole breakers can work with an imbalance, but not always, and not if it requires a neutral connection. Over/under voltage be noticed by lights growing very bright or dim, and/or burning out.
