Ever notice a tiny gap between your flooring and the wall in winter or early spring? 👀

Most people think it’s a mistake. It’s not.

Wood and engineered floors are designed to expand and contract with seasonal humidity changes. That small expansion gap around the perimeter prevents buckling when moisture levels rise in spring and summer.

If floors are installed too tightly, that’s when problems happen.

Did you know those gaps are intentional?

Myth: If your floors look fine after winter, they are fine.

Fact: Salt residue and trapped moisture can slowly wear down finishes even after snow season ends. ❄️

Quick tip:
Use a damp microfiber mop with a pH-neutral cleaner this month to remove buildup you cannot see.

Have you been doing this or skipping it? 🤔
