Very happy with how this board is coming along. Freshly flattened on the drum sander and then got all of the edges trimmed to final dimensions. I was thinking about adding a contrasting color border to this one but I’ve decided I’ll save that for another board. Now the sanding starts

Made some more progress on the Art Deco end grain board that I’ve been working on. The majority of the board is White Oak which has some really prominent end grain that shows really well on this type of board. The White Oak also doesn’t take away from the Art Deco strip that I added. I’m thinking about doing a darker border on this board. The board isn’t glued yet, just dry fit.

Got some good shop time in today and got the parts for 5 cutting boards made. I like to keep off cuts of boards that I’ve made previously that sold so that I can use them as a template to make more of the same style. I do vary the species so that I don’t always make the same boards but the templates help give me a starting point, and if a board sold once, chances are it’ll sell again.

The results of all of my gluing and clamping from the other day. This strip will be used in what I’m going to call an Art Deco or Mosaic end grain cutting board. The rest of the board will be white oak with a border in some kind of darker wood, yet to be determined. Pretty cool!!

Lots and lots of clamps getting used for this one. This was a complicated and time consuming glue up. Hopefully the effort pays off. I’m attempting something I’ve never done before so wish me luck!

What a great weekend I had last week at my favorite show every year! This was my 5th time participating and the weather was the best that we’ve had in 5 years. It rained Friday but that didn’t keep the crowds away. My sales were a little off of last year, but it’s hard to have a new high every year. My biggest takeaway is that I know for sure that I’m doing something right, I had so many people stop and tell me how beautiful my work was and ask how I get my boards so smooth. That coupled with numerous repeat customers lets me know that I’m on the right path. If you or anyone that you know is looking for some Christmas gifts I still have plenty of items left, DM me what you’re looking for. Thanks to everyone that supports my small business and has supported it over the last 8 years, I can’t tell you all how grateful I am

Tomorrow is the day, my first Art show of the year! If you’re in the Cincinnati / Dayton are come on out to Springboro for the There will be 100 artists from many different mediums, food trucks, a beer garden, a kids activities tent and much more.
