I always get so excited when I spray the ink onto the wood because I know the pattern I just carved is about to reveal itself.

I love using the airbrush. It gives a nice, even application and saves a lot of product from going to waste.

Once it’s all set, I seal it off and reveal the beautiful Technodrome hidden underneath.

Now she’s ready for some power carving and paint. 🔥🎨🪵

After many hours of drawing, it’s finally ready to be carved.

At this point, I couldn’t have been more excited. There’s something so cool about creating a design on an iPad and then watching it come to life in the real world.

This won’t be just a CNC project, though. Once the machine work is done, I’ll be jumping in with power carving to add depth, texture, and all the details that make a piece feel alive.

And if you’re wondering what it is, it’s the Technodrome from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles — one of the most iconic villain bases from my childhood and a project I’ve wanted to tackle for a long time. 🐢⚡️

Now it’s time to turn this drawing into sawdust.

In case you were wondering how long it took me to sketch that piece out.

I’ll tell you it took a long time.

But at least my husband stopped complaining that I didn’t make his Technodrome yet.

Though shortly after I made this for him, he started asking for a fight scene.

I just can’t satisfy collector. They always want more.

Especially those who collect the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles stuff lol

To be honest, it was a really fun challenge. It just took a long time and he was nagging me forever about it.

I recently was a podcast for and I was talking about a piece that I hand Drew from a very low Rez photo.

It was a lot of tracing and guessing in and then I brought it into illustrator to clean it up and fine-tune the drawing.

After that, I popped it on my CNC and got to carving.

My Husband harassed me for three years for the Technodrome from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. And a few years ago, I made it for him.

It’s now a part of his collection and his office and I get to take a peek at it whenever I want which is so fun.

I can’t wait to start making pieces like this again. I just gotta get the new shop together.

I had to bring this old video back. It’s six years old and shows my very first spoon carving. I got way too excited to put the oil on it… and honestly, I think it shows. 😂

Did the first smack give it away, or was it the second?

Anyway, I wanted to end that spoon carving series with a splash and show how my spoons started out looking.

I can’t help myself. I live on a pond and there are always cool birds out there. I went from feeling like Winona Ryder in Beetlejuice to slowly becoming the dad hiding in his office staring out the window at birds.

And now the whole family is hooked on the Merlin Bird ID app, so we’re fully committed to this lifestyle at this point.

Shaping wood can be challenging, but with careful sectioning and smoothing, even a first-timer can achieve great results.

Keep refining until you're happy, then move on to sanding.

You’ll get better with practice and come up with some fun, unique designs.

I wanted to show you the first time I ever made this template so that you could see that we all start somewhere and it can only get better.
