Each item on our site has been hand crafted without a pattern, so each item is completely unique. Each item has a novel journey to its creation. Often, I don’t know what something will become when I start making it and that feels really poetic. A baozi (roughly pronounced bowd-zuh) is a DELICIOUS chinese dumpling! en made fun of for my round, doughy face. But it’s something that my Ayi taught me to embrace. Now, I am proud of my boazi face, and hope that we all can learn to celebrate diversity and difference. How it all started…
Through my journey with disability, chronic illness, and pain, I felt I’d lost access to self-expression for a long time. Then one day, I saw a crochet hook in a box with some musty old string. I just started tying knots from there (I’m an experiential learner). It just clicked. I haven’t felt starved for creative expression since that day, and I don’t think I’ve put down that hook for a day since then either. Since then, I realized one of my very favorite things to do is make things for others. That’s how BaoziFace came to be!
