Here is a kitchen in St. Louis Hills that we tore out 1 layer of tile, 1 layer of backer board, 1 layer of old vinyl and plywood. We laced the 2-1/4 red oak into the dining room, sanded, no stain and 3 coats of oil based urethane. It turn out amazing.
