Your space as a bouquet. 💐

When you look at a beautifully designed room, you shouldn't just see furniture, you should feel an atmosphere.

To me, interior design is exactly like composing a bespoke floral arrangement. It’s a delicate balancing act of textures, tones, and structure. You start with your foundational "stems" (your layout and large upholstery items), layer in contrasting textures to create depth and interest and finish with those unexpected, conversational accents that pull the whole story together.

Every element has a purpose, and nothing is left to chance, but nothing feels overly structured.

A beautiful kitchen is completely useless if you can't actually cook in it. 🤷♀️🍳

If you want a kitchen that looks high-end but works even better, here are the 5 non-negotiables we built into this space:

1. Design for how you actually live. We added a built-in wine rack and beverage zone right on the edge of the kitchen so guests can grab a drink without getting in the chef's way.

2. Layer your lighting. Don't just rely on one overhead light. You need task lighting over your prep zones and soft, recessed lighting to keep the mood right. Dimmers are also non-negotiable.

3. Create a clean focal point. Your eyes need a place to rest. A seamless range hood paired with classic subway tile keeps the cooking zone looking structured, not chaotic.

4. Bring in the warmth. All-white cabinets can feel sterile if you aren't careful. We grounded the space with rich, warm oak floors to keep it feeling like a home.

5. Prioritize storage and flow. Wide walkways and deep drawers where you actually need them make moving around the space feel effortless because everything has a home.

Buying a home with a kitchen you actually love is rare for a designer, but when I saw these natural quartzite counters, I knew we were home.

The absolute icing on the cake? We miraculously found a matching slab of that rare quartzite to finish the new section, making the extension look like it was always meant to be.
