CAPTURING THE SILK-SMOOTH PRECISION OF THE NORTHWOODS.

There is a specific challenge in carving the Cedar Waxwing: capturing the seamless, "painted" transition of its plumage without losing the structural integrity of the bird.

In this mantle display, Tim Wiley has utilized decades of competitive experience to master that very transition. From the sharp definition of the black mask to the vibrant "wax" tips on the wings, every detail is a testament to the 2-to-4-week process required for a single Wiley carving.

Mounted on weathered wood and accented with hand-crafted berries, this piece is designed as a centerpiece for the serious collector who values Michigan’s avian heritage as much as the art itself.

Artist: Tim Wiley

Origin: Standwood, Michigan

Hand-signed, 1-of-1 original

The Authority Check:
As a lifelong Ducks Unlimited member and national-level competitor, Tim’s work is rooted in a deep, anatomical understanding that only comes from a lifetime spent in the field.

There’s something timeless about cardinals.

One stands watch at the River.
One rests at the House.

Each carved by hand.
Each painted feather by feather.
Each mounted on natural wood with burned lettering and real branch perches.

No two are identical.
And this pair was just completed.

If you’ve been waiting for something meaningful — something that feels like it belongs in a home, not a store shelf — this is that piece.

For decades, Tim Wiley has carved wildlife by hand.

Long before social media.
Long before online shops.

As a young carver, Tim earned ribbons and recognition at state and national waterfowl carving competitions. His work reflected not only craftsmanship — but a deep understanding of the birds themselves.

A lifelong Michigan outdoorsman.
An avid duck hunter.
A dedicated Ducks Unlimited member.
And a man who has trained thousands in s***t and trap shooting over the years.

Now in his 70s, Tim continues to carve each piece by hand in Standwood, Michigan.

Every bird is individually sculpted.
Every feather hand detailed.
Every piece signed.

These are not factory pieces.
They are collectible wildlife carvings created slowly and intentionally — often taking weeks to complete.

This page will feature available pieces from Tim’s current collection, along with limited commission openings.

If you appreciate authentic craftsmanship, conservation heritage, and the tradition of wildlife art — welcome.
