Happy Friday Friends! Let’s talk about drawer liners! 🗣️ When I first started working with furniture in 2016, pretty wrapping paper with double sided tape was my go-to. It was inexpensive, easy to apply, and easy to remove or change up as needed. Next, I started using fabric. With a background in fashion, colorful textiles are always something I’m drawn to. Fabric drawer liner can be so beautiful, and look high-end, but it’s pretty darn permanent after glueing it down. Today, I used some really pretty peel & stick wallpaper (see my stories), to line the top drawers on my Faux Bamboo dresser. It was so easy to apply, inexpensive, and really looks great!! Things have changed a lot in the furniture world over the years, and now that I’m back dabbling in furniture again, I’m curious, what are you using these days to line drawers? Are you pro-liner or anti-liner? Which medium is your favorite to line drawers and why?
📸 photo of the floral fabric I used to line the drawers in the console table / desk I have for sale right now, and the chair I reupholstered in the same fabric in 2017! I s had some left over from that chair, so it was a no-brainer to use it for the desk! Anyway, tell me your thoughts!!

1960/70’s Whiskey Barrel Chairs for sale!!

Who knew this style of furniture was actually a thing?! 🤷‍♀️

My parents had a Barrel Table when I was growing up as a kid. I just thought someone DIY’d it back in the day, but NOPE! It’s a thing.

These chairs were pulled out of a dusty basement and needed some love to restore them back to their former glory, but they all cleaned up and ready for their next home!

Who else is a self-proclaimed Plant Lady?! 🪴

Although I’m a gardener, and grew over 500 seedlings for my spring garden this year, I’ve only ever had one house plant, an easy Pathos.

A couple weeks ago I was helping with a house clean out and there were a TON of house plants being tossed in the trash! 😱 Many of them had sat out on the deck in freezing temps and hadn’t been cared for in a while. Of course the “fixer” in me had to take them all home and make them my new project and plant babies.

I had fun yesterday staging some of them on this tiered end table I just finished painting for my client. I have now entered my “Plant Lady” stage of life and I’m not mad about it! 😆

Here she is! This reveal has been a long time coming so I’m excited to finally show her off!

This heirloom cabinet had been in my clients husbands family for generations, and was ready for a glamorous makeover to better fit their style. This was one of the most difficult and time consuming projects I’ve worked on, but the outcome was so worth it!

The black, white, and gold combination is such a classic and one of my absolute favorite combinations!🖤🤍💛

I love how bright and airy my customers living space is! I had the pleasure of transforming their parkay-top coffee table into something that would better complement the already lovely space. Who we are!

Hi everyone and welcome to Twig & Thyme Design! My name is Courtney Cole and I am the owner and artist behind Twig & Thyme Design. We are a home-based business located in Northern Virginia about 30 minutes outside of Washington, DC. We specialize in Custom Furniture Painting offering our clients a personalized experience in updating their dated furniture into something they love and are proud to display in their home. We update not only our customers pieces but we also take special “wish list” requests and source furniture pieces specific to our customers needs.

I started this hobby of mine back in 2016 while pursuing my career in fashion. On my days off I would frequent our local antique shops and had built quite a collection of my own painted furniture and vintage finds. When I decided I needed a career change, I dove into something I already knew and loved and my business, Twig & Thyme Design, was born!

The early stages of my business were mainly focused on sourcing unique furniture pieces and painting them for sale. As time went on I began having more and more of my very first customers asking for me to paint their personal pieces. I quickly realized there was a great need for this service in our area and began focusing my efforts more on Custom Furniture Painting over furniture sales. We now proudly serve dozens of customers a year by transforming their dated but beloved furniture into “new” pieces they adore.

In 2018 my fiance and partner of 13 years, Mario, decided to pursue his passion for photography and started his own small photography business. He now is my personal in-house photographer and I’d say we make a great team! He also is the extra set of hands and muscles behind all of the moving, picking up, and delivering of furniture with me.
