We're excited to welcome the Bitterroot Mushers to our Anniversary Event on June 20th!

Whether you're curious about mushing, skijoring, bikejoring, canicross, or simply love working dogs, their booth will be a great place to learn more about the incredible world of dog-powered sports.

We've received quite a few calls recently about a dog that has been seen running at large near our facility, and we truly appreciate everyone's concern for its safety.

We wanted to clarify that this dog is not a Montana's Misfits Pet Retreat guest, and it has never been in our care. The dog has been appearing in the area on and off for about the last month. It is a large black dog with white markings and a red collar. While it occasionally wanders near our property, it generally keeps its distance. We have seen someone attempting to call the dog from across the field on one occasion, but most of the time it appears to be on its own and simply curious about its surroundings.

We also want to reassure our clients that the pets in our care remain safe and secure. We have 24/7 surveillance coverage of our facility, as well as staff who live on-site, allowing us to keep a close eye on both our property and the animals entrusted to us.
At this time, we do not know who the dog belongs to. If it comes close enough for us to safely approach, we would be happy to check for identification tags or take it to be scanned for a microchip in an effort to help reunite it with its family.

Thank you to everyone who has reached out and shown concern. We care deeply about the animals in our community and will gladly do what we can to help if the opportunity arises.

If anyone recognizes a large black dog with white markings and a red collar that frequents the area around Highway 93 near our facility, feel free to share any information that may help it get safely home. ❤️

A little reminder from us at Montana’s Misfits Pet Retreat 💜

One of the things that makes us different from many high-volume facilities is that we are very intentional about the number of dogs we accept at one time. We don’t believe in packing dogs in just to increase numbers — we believe in maintaining a safe, structured, low-stress environment where every dog gets the attention and care they deserve.

Because of that, when we are full, we are truly full.

We absolutely understand that last-minute needs happen, and we will always do our best to accommodate whenever possible. But during busy seasons and holidays, we strongly encourage booking ahead to make sure your pet has a spot reserved.

We appreciate all of you who continue to trust us with your pets and support the way we choose to operate. Quality care will always come before quantity here 🐾

We also hope to see everyone at our Anniversary Event on June 20th! We’ll have food, local vendors, fun activities, and more as we celebrate another milestone with this amazing community 💜
