I spent the day in the store yesterday, and it was one of those days that filled my heart and reminded me exactly why we do this. So many kind, sweet, wonderful people came through the door — the kind of people who make you feel truly lucky to do what you love.
While I was working the candle bar, helping customers blend their scents and pour their own candles, a man came up to me. He looked at me and said, "I can tell you really love your job. It shows in your face."
He had no idea I was the owner. He was just a customer, sharing a kind thought. And I told him the truth — I really, really do love it. He was right.
Then he said something I keep turning over in my mind. He told me our little candle shop had become his new happy place. That the moment he walked in, he felt at peace.
I stood there for a second and just let that land.
When we love what we do, it shows. It shows in our faces, in the way we talk to people, in the little details we pour ourselves into. And here's the beautiful part — that love doesn't just fill our own cups. It spills over. It reaches the man at the candle bar who needed a moment of calm. It reaches the stranger who walks through the door carrying a hard week on their shoulders.
We can't always control what kind of day someone is having when they find us. But we can decide to show up with our whole hearts. That's the part that's ours.
I won't pretend every day is like yesterday. There are hard days. Days when the to-do list feels endless, when things break, when you wonder if you're doing any of it right. Those days are real, and I've had plenty of them.
But moments like the one at the candle bar remind me why the bumps are worth it. When you're doing something you love — something that matters to you — the rough patches don't disappear, but they do soften. They become part of the road instead of the reason to stop.
Whatever you're pouring your heart into, keep going. Let your love for it show. You never know who's watching, who's quietly noticing, who might find a little peace just because you chose to care.
And if you don't love what you're doing right now, let this be a gentle nudge. Find the thing that lights you up. Chase it. Your happiness has a way of becoming someone else's happy place, too.
