Wood That Could

Thank you Capital Hardwood and Supply for always being the best and most trusted local hardwood supplier AND service provider. I’m currently in the process of replacing the cabinet seen in the first photo, that is missing a drawer, and building a larger and far better cabinet. I wasn’t able to manage cutting full size 4x8 sheets of Baltic Birch plywood, and needed some further assistance from the crew at the shop! Thankfully they help with many needs/services especially ones like this. Gave them my cut list/plans and they made the vision come true! Looking forward to getting all the pieces put together for this, and seeing it all come together.

Shop upgrade #2: A Dust Extractor.

Picked up the Festool CT 15 HEPA Cleantec. It hooks straight to my palm sander and pulls the dust at the source instead of letting it hang in the air. HEPA filtration, so the fine stuff actually gets caught.

Sanding was the one job the big collector was never going to solve. This fills that gap.

Bought it from Capital Hardwoods in Madison, my local lumber supplier. They just became a Festool dealer, and I’ve been waiting for a reason to take advantage of it. This was it.

Good to be able to buy a tool like this without leaving town.

More shop updates coming.

New Shop Update! 🚨‼️ Upgraded the dust collector.

I ran a Wen single-stage for two years. 7.4-amp induction motor, and it did the job. Got me through our initial move into this shop and never gave me a reason to replace it early.

However, shop outgrew it. More tools, more demand, and it just wasn’t moving enough air anymore.

The new one is the Dust Right Wall-Mount HEPA Cyclone. 1,250 CFM versus 750 or less before, and a 12-amp motor. It’s two-stage, so the chips drop out before they ever reach the filter.

More shop updates to come over the next couple days!

The Strawberry Festival in Cedarburg, WI is just around the corner — and I’ve got some serious work ahead of me. 🍓

I just filmed a walk-through of my woodshop showing all the boards I need to complete before the big day. The final count? 37 boards, and I have less than 2 weeks to get them all done before the 26th. Safe to say the shop is going to be BUSY.

I wanted to share this video so you all can follow along on the journey leading up to the festival. Whether I’m ahead of schedule or running on sawdust and coffee by the end — you’ll see it all. If you’re planning to be in the Cedarburg area, come find the Wood That Could booth located at Ivy Junction Floral Designs. I’d love to see you there!

Drop a 🍓 in the comments if you think I can pull it off in time!

**Please excuse the obnoxious, and overly excited woodworker in the video**🤣

A new part arrived in the mail last week! We couldn’t be more excited!!

Our Drum Sander Conveyor Belt Assembly broke down back in March, and I have been unable to use my drum sander for getting boards all sanded up, and we’ve been having to make do without it.

Thankfully, last week Tuesday, we finally placed an order for a whole new conveyor assembly for the SuperMax 19-38 Drum Sander, and it arrived by Friday! Incredible delivery turnaround time. We couldn’t thank Laguna Tools for the quick response time and diligent work with getting this delivered speedily and fully assembled in box for us.

Now it’s time to get to sanding down all our boards again, instead of relying on hand sanding all the countless boards we build. Looking forward to the finish products and future builds we get to start making again with this beast!

This past weekend, Wood That Could made its first-ever pop-up market appearance at the Trout Days Festival in Cross Plains, Wisconsin — and wow. We are still soaking it all in.

We set out with a handful of goals. We hit every single one of them, and then some. Record-breaking sales. More foot traffic than we could have anticipated. And more importantly — genuine conversations, kind words, and incredible support from so many of you who stopped by, picked something up, and made us feel like we truly belong out here doing this.

From locals to folks traveling from all across the area — THANK YOU. This success wasn’t ours alone. It belonged to every single person who walked under that tent, touched a board, and believed in what we’re building.

We walked away from Trout Days with full hearts, sold inventory, and a whole notebook full of lessons. We know what’s working. We know what we want to do better. And we are more fired up than ever to bring Wood That Could to more markets, more festivals, and more communities.

Also, HUGE shoutout to Main Street Market for organizing a great event, and giving us the opportunity to be apart of it!!

This is just the beginning. 🙌
