Peonies are popping, people! (Photo taken 9 am Friday 6/12). These are in what we call the “marshmallow” stage—the perfect stage to cut them in because you get the longest life from start to finish. I’m sure there will be hundreds over the next week. I will be making bunches and putting them into the cooler as soon as supply permits.

Everyone is asking about Peonies. Here is the report as of Thursday morning. Some buds are getting a little squishy and I think that there are a few in the “marshmallow stage” now. I would say in the coming few days there will be more and more and then they will explode likely next week. Doing my best to predict, but it’s always hard to gauge. A lot depends on heat and Peonies do have a mind of their own 😂

FREE Dahlia Tuber with any purchase, including this Purple/White. So that means if you’ve been here and bought anything in 2026, you are entitled to a free Dahlia Tuber from the black crate just inside my shed.

I keep getting the question is it too late to plant Dahlias? Heck, NO! I plant mine until the end of June.

Ranunculus is exploding! This flower lasts two weeks or more in the vase and is stunningly beautiful. I’m really proud of and pleased with this crop. There are hundreds of blooms here now and coming on. Please come by and cut some. They were a lot of work to grow so I would really hate to see them go to waste. $1.50 per stem.

🌸My mom planted these rhododendrons about 35 years ago. I think this year has been their most spectacular yet.

🌺She moved up north in 1991 to help care for our son Sam and lived with us while her house near Suttons Bay was was being built. That was the start of my full on gardening adventures as she and I put in a garden behind the house.

🥰We moved two of the initial bushes she planted into the edge of the woods years ago. They seem to really love that dappled shade and have grown to be giants like some we saw in England or in the Carolinas. Anyway they always make me think of her. 🥰

☔️Boy, we sure needed this rain today. It’s a real soaker! But we also need bouquets to go for the cooler. And so Lynn came today and has been under the structure putting together a dozen gorgeous Ranunculus pint jars.

☔️I did a little cutting for her, but then came up to clean house and do some cooking.

🌸That’s Lynn and her green raincoat. She sure makes beautiful bouquets every time.

Ranunculus is ready! It’s hard to capture in a video how many beautiful stems there are ready to pick and hundreds more coming on. Very proud of this crop which is not easy to grow. I think I have something close to 1500 plants in this bed.
