I have a difficult and emotional feeling when seeing older video of the Twin Towers. As a navy veteran, the following display of brotherhood by the German navy means so much to me.

On September 14, 2001, the crew of the German ship Lütjens passed American ships USS Winston S. Churchill and USS Gonzalez. All the Germans manned the rails. They flew an American flag at half-mast and held a sign which read, "We stand by you".
"There was not a dry eye on the bridge," wrote an American officer.
