We realize that this may be a tight week for some people. We will be putting a table in front of our office tomorrow, Tuesday November 4 from 9 am to noon (or when it’s all taken) with some food we have collected. We can’t deliver but are on a bus line.

It won’t be out there, but we have sourdough starter and can teach you how to use it to make bread if you’d like. Message to let us know.

STAFF SPOTLIGHT: Zach Clegg, Preservation Planner/Project Manager

• What drew you to architecture?
“From a young age, architecture always captivated me for its ability to manipulate physical space per an array of needs, and also to represent a specific people, style or moment in time for future users to experience.”

• What is your favorite architectural material and why?
“BRICK. Brick’s versatility in colors, forms and lay patterns give it so much adaptability to different protects. It also has the unique capability of being both historic and contemporary, depending on how it is instrumented. That versatility is very exciting to me.”

• What is one thing/value you believe architecture can bring to a client/community/user that you particularly enjoy?
“Being a preservationist at heart, I love how architecture has the ability to place users in a specific moment in time, but also connect them to other times in history, cultures or geographies using different elements like materials, setting and form. Not many other fields of practice accomplish this as successfully as architecture does.”

• Do you have a favorite weekend spot?
“If possible, anywhere outdoors. My dog Sasha and I are big fans of the Churchill Valley Greenway and love spending time there on the weekends throughout each season.”

Thanks Zach for your preservation knowledge and design expertise!

Recently Lisa Whitney, our architect and founding principal, was interviewed by the “Two Rivers, 30 Minutes” podcast, a weekly show that highlights public affairs in the Mon Valley.

See the link in bio for a 30-minute discussion on all things architecture: the process of getting into architecture, what encompasses the role of an architect, our architectural process, past projects and how we build our internal and external teams.
