Thanks to this lady I’ve inherited some unhinged behavior - the kind that makes you crazy enough to throw caution to the wind and start a business, and stick with what I put my mind to no matter what. Momma never raised no quitter. Happy Mother’s Day, Sally. I’ll never forget that one time when I was a kid that you requested 2pac be played at your funeral, and I hope you someday find that jumpsuit in the last photo that you can’t seem to find. Maybe it’s next to your tv remote.

Today’s my birthday! Which also means in a few days (earth day) my candle making adventures have been going on for 11 years. Yeesh! I couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate than by doing the thing I’ve loved all these years. Thanks to for a lovely event today so I could share my live perfume making with Rochester. I hope everyone enjoyed, and I get to do it again soon!

Retouching the tops of our samples helps to refresh the scent, since aroma vapors will slowly diminish from the surface of uncovered candles (but hey, they were still smelling pretty good for 5ish years!) - it’s also a good way for me to see which ones were not touched much, to help clear out less popular scents and make way for new things ✨ any requests for scents at the fragrance bar? I have more than I can fit!

March means it’s our 3 year full-time-aversary! It was a tornado of a year for me to lean into self employment - newly widowed, no job, compounding health issues (even a concussion sprinkled in) 🙃 but I had a need to be in control of my own future for a change. Look how tiny the original spot was! I didn’t care.. i was handed the keys and it was mine.

Three years on and I’ve moved to a bigger space, became a perfumer, expanded my offerings, and even rubbed elbows with rockstars. Still, the most fulfilling parts of the job are simply being recognized in the wild by folks in the community, or seeing the look on people’s faces when they smell my stuff for the first time. Even when I’m slowed down, you all keep me going.

No bones about it, I’ll be having surgery on my foot late next week. This will put me out of commission from February 27th until probably the second week of March (then I’ll be in a walking boot for a while). I’ll make sure inventory is stocked up before then, but plan your fragrance bar visits accordingly. If I’m able to do some projects or promotions while stuck at home I’ll keep you all posted. Stay tuned! 🦶🪚
