Did you know the tree is dioecious? This means it has either male or female reproductive parts, not both (monoecious). A male plant must be near a female tree so that pollinators can do their work.

So how can you tell what your tree is? You could wait to see if the tree develops fruit to confirm it’s female which may take 20-30 years. Or possibly notice the split lobes of the leaf to indicate a male. However, according to Oak Spring Garden Foundation and the renowned botanical researcher Peter Crane, “there are examples of individual branches on ginkgo trees changing s*x from male to female”! 🤯 Tell me, is yours male or female?

I was so surprised to see my Corokia cotoneaster bonsai in bloom! 🌼 I like the twisted, zigzagging branches and tiny leaves. This plant is hardy to zones 7b. Note the seasonal differences.
