NYAME DUA is the Tree or Altar of God and represents His omnipresence. The symbol is said to depict the cross section of a tree stump from above. To me it looks like a clover, four hearts that meet at the points or the crown of tree tops.
In most parts of Africa, Alstonia Boonie or ONYAME DUA can be found and is known as āSky Godās Tree ā to natives in West Africa . This treeās medicinal properties are plenty, the wood is used for carpentry and as timber. The treeās spiritual properties include purification, blessings and connection to the divine.
Similarly, this symbol represents the deep connection the Akan people have with God, their faith and their belief in the Power of God as a place of refuge.
As someone who has sought out shade on the hottest of days, it is encouragement to seek Godās presence and guidance in all aspects of life. If we make our hearts the altar then we can fully connect with The Divine āØ
