Holtville/Slapout Fire & Rescue has placed a new brush truck in service. The 2003 Dodge was repurposed from the departments Command Truck to a Brush Truck. The 200 Gallon Skid Unit was purchased with a grant from the Alabama Forestry Commission. The department also upgraded the emergency lighting and striping to meet the current NFPA Standards. The skid Unit and Lighting Upgrade was provided by Southeast Area Fire Equipment and Repair. The lettering was provided by Taylortime. Both or these businesses are local to our area. We will always support our local businesses when possible. The truck this is replacing was a 1986 Chevrolet Single Cab. The Chevrolet had some mechanical and electrical issues. The Dodge is also a crew cab so more personnel can respond with this unit. With the capabilities of the new skid unit we can also respond this apparatus to calls other than grass and woods fires. The pump is capable of fighting car fires and drafting 250 gallons per minute from a water source such as a pond, creek, pool, etc… PLEASE COME JOIN US!
