✨ 3 Things Renovating My Own Home Taught Me — And Why It Makes Me Better For My Clients 🤍
Designing and renovating your own home is humbling 🥹.
It’s exciting, exhausting, emotional, expensive if done wrong… and honestly, it’s made me a much more intentional designer for my clients because I’ve truly been in their shoes.
1️⃣ Don’t rush just to “get it done”
When we first started renovating, I wanted everything done fast. Contractors weren’t always available, timelines felt long, and certain upgrades felt expensive at the time. So sometimes we settled.
Now that we actually live in those spaces? I’m spending more updating what I should’ve been patient enough to do correctly the first time.
Good design takes thought, functionality, intention, and proper ex*****on. Rushing limits your space’s true potential.
2️⃣ Materials matter
My husband and I say this to each other all the time 😂 You cannot go cheap on everything.
Yes, your investment matters, of course. Why? Investing in quality materials/furnishings — especially in kitchens, bathrooms, bedrooms, and high-traffic spaces makes a huge difference in longevity and daily living.
And beyond aesthetics, I care deeply about materials that support wellness, sustainability, and healthier living too.
3️⃣ Make the space yours
Pinterest inspiration is beautiful. Trends are fun. Luxury looks amazing online.
But at the end of the day… you have to live there. Your family has to function there.
So ask yourself:
Can we realistically live this way?
Does this support our lifestyle?
Does this actually feel like us?
The best spaces aren’t just beautiful…they’re personal, intentional, and livable
So if your thinking about renovating or refreshing your own space…when you’re ready to explore what intentional, functional design could look like for your home, let’s connect 🤍
