This is a step in the right direction. There needs to be a way to micro these down in scale and to not over extend our power supply & water supply. Also a way to greatly minimize the impact on our eco system. A renewable energy source and solar, wind or humidity use for water vs. current demands. Micro chips vs. huge metal structures etc. 🙏🏼🚃💻💯
Hillsborough County is hitting the pause button on new data center before any applications even land on the desk.
Commissioners unanimously voted to have county attorneys draft a one-year moratorium while officials study potential impacts on water use, electricity demand, noise and wildlife.
The county currently has zero pending data center applications, and leaders say they want more information before changing that. The proposed pause still has to come back for a future vote before it can take effect.
Basically: no server farms until Hillsborough finishes reading the terms and conditions.
