I tried to make my Granny's Rocky Mountain cake for years. My granny never had measuring cups or measuring spoons in her house. All I knew were the ingredients. After many tries I finally got it as close I could.
This cake must be kept refrigerated, after finishing. My granny lived in a house that had rooms without heat. So she would keep the finished cake in one of the unheated rooms. This was a cake she only made for Christmas.

This is a new recipe for me. It's called pantry sauerkraut. You shred your cabbage pack in sterile jars, add 1 tsp sugar, 1 tsp canning salt and 1 1/2 tsp of vinegar. Fill with hot water,process in water bath 20 mins. Let sit in pantry 4 weeks. 10 quarts of pantry kraut canned and ready to ferment 4 weeks. Will see how it goes. I'll keep you updated.

Remember my cookbook loving dad, who rescued a 1923 cookbook off the road? Here's a find from one of his cookbook boxes. It was stuck solidly to a 1947 cookbook. A small green book bound with yarn. On the cover it says : "Recipes". At the bottom it said "To Mother, from David, 193(1?). It was a small collection of handwritten recipes. Here are some pages!
