Everything I’ve made, I have a story for and some obviously mean more than others. Whether it’s a new challenge, a meaningful purpose, or something I truly get excited to make from start to finish….
These two mosaics may not scream it, but they may have been my most important to date. My mother recently remodeled her entire first floor this past Spring. I grabbed some of the scrap lath that were in the walls knowing I wanted to create something meaningful. Flash forward, and as a special gift to my mom, I was able to create these two pieces. They showcase the bones of the house I grew up in, with the addition of the hand-cut purple roses that have a special meaning to my mom, and a classic walnut to tie it all together.
(If you look close, you can still see the 100+ year lath riddled with nail holes that I reclaimed by whitewashing or naturally oiled)
If you read all that, thank you. If you like them, I still have some century old lath and ready to make some more epic mosaics that have a more personal touch perfect for your space.
