A design rooted in the landscape. 🏔️🌿

These sketches explore a lake house perched on a narrow shelf just above the Little Missouri River, creating a challenging and relatively restrictive building footprint. But constraints often lead to the most creative solutions.

The design takes advantage of the site by orienting public spaces and bedrooms toward the river, while secondary spaces tuck into the hillside behind.

The material palette further connects the home to its surroundings with dark gray standing-seam roofing and vertical lap siding paired with warm natural wood accents and locally sourced stone, grounding the architecture within the wooded, rocky landscape.
