Here are my first two projects that I’m working on today. I thrifted these two plates from Goodwill added some rub on transfers and will be adding a clear coat of ModPodge to protect it. I will add picture hangers to the back so that they can be used as wall decor or you can lean them against a wall on a counter top.

These can be bought individually or as a set and I will be listing them on Facebook Marketplace when they are complete…

My progress on my desk has been delayed due to having surgery on August 10th, but I will be working on some smaller projects over the next couple of weeks until my lifting restrictions are removed. Stay tuned for the before and after photos.

The first coat of stain is on…I think it will only need one. It’s definitely not perfect, but looking okay for a practice run, I think. This is going to be the bottom side of the desk, so it doesn’t have to be perfect. After it dries, I will touch it up and then put a few coats of clear topcoat on and it will look even better. The lesson I learned on this project is to go lengthwise with the grain as opposed to sections across the width. That will make the top side look better than this one.

While I’m putting in the behind the scenes work to start my future business, I’m actively working to improve my own home environment. This acacia wood butcher block is about to become my new desk! This butcher block was purchased from Lowe’s. I am using a water-based Walnut Stain from Minwax with a polycrylic topcoat, also from Minwax.
