Handmade doll clothes to fit AG dolls
I made my great nieces (yes they are great but they are also great, as in, they are my nieces little girls) about 30+ doll outfits (to fit American girl dolls) and took them down to Cincinnati at Easter time. Needless to say they were more than thrilled with everything, My oldest nephew surprisingly started checking out all of the outfits, and said, âAunt Suze, you need to sell these; they are awesome.â I didnât give it a lot of thought, came home to Northern Michigan from Cincinnati and what did I do? I started making more doll clothes and thought âwho am I going to give all of these to?â So thatâs when I sat down with my husband and discussed the idea of opening up an Etsy shop. After all, we took early retirement and moved up to our lake house in order to enjoy the quiet life. But I found out I wasnât ready for full retirement and about 9 months later I took a part-time job with an upscale clothing shop in the town where we live. I love my little part-time job, but I have a passion for sewing. I decided to open SuzansLakesideStitch (name derived from sitting at my sewing machine and looking out at the lake) to fulfill that passion. ButâŚit is difficult to work 3-4 days a week at the clothing shop and only have 3-4 days to do my sewing. Once SuzansLakesideStitch takes off, I will probably commit to my sewing full-time. I know it is difficult to get someone to trust a new shop/individual that is making and selling what a gazillion other people are selling. Iâm old school though: an honest dayâs pay for an honest dayâs work. Things are not given to you, you need to earn them. Hard work, dedication and honesty are the only policy I know to live by.
Please note: I am not endorsed by any doll companies. My creations are strictly my own, either derived from a pattern or from my own design. I do use a doll in order to "model" the clothes I make, as I make them specifically for this size doll.
