Every Friday this Winter Rosemarie will hold classes teaching the making of fundamental accessories. Think scarves, hats, mittens...

We will start with the Sophie Scarf from Petite Knit.

This little, triangled neck tie is a wardrobe staple. Even though there are lots of little triangle scarves out there, hey, we hear you can even buy them made out of plastic yarns at mass retailers, we have decided to give another class on how to make the original that started the trend.

The yarn we will be using is the wonderful Fonty COEUR D'ANGORA -exactly one ball is needed-and you will have to pick between 20 colors.

We love this yarn . We love how it knits up, and we love the halo and the drape. Made of 80% French angora rabbit hair and 20% French merino sheep fleece - it is a beautiful yarn.

Rosemarie will walk you through every step of the making of this scarf, from the i-corded edges to the increases and decreases, cast on to bind-off.

And once you are done with your first “Sophie”-you will most likely be as addicted to these little things as we are. It’s the perfect “pocket project”- and the perfect little gift to give to friends and loved ones this season.

This two part class is held on two days: Friday, November 6 and November 13.

KNITFLIX Night!
Mark your calendar and prepare to join us.

We did the test-and we are ready to go. Please bring your knitting or crocheting, your friends and family, your neck lights ( no, we do not sell those) and a little cash for some popcorn and let's get ready to craft while we are watching a movie together in the wonderful Theater that is the Vickers.

Zach gave us full control of the lighting-it will be dimmed.
There will be intermissions.
And a kick-off talk by Liz and Suzanna.

• Doors open at 5:30PM-come early if you want to secure a table vs. a seat.
• Park right next door.
• Or gather at the Yarn Haus first and we can all walk over together.
We open at 3PM that day.
• Because this is a private event-tickets can not be sold at the Vickers but need to be secured via our website. Sorry.
•Concession stand will be open, serving popcorn, b**r, w**e and non-alcoholic drinks.

Our first movie will be "Frida"-a story we all know; an artists and style icon we all love, plus a killer sound track and a visual eye-candy. ( No crying, Zoe! )

See you all there.

The December showing falls on Wednesday, December 2.

Tada!

Introducing KNITFLIX

We invite you to join us at our beloved Vickers Movie Theater every second Wednesday for the next 6 month.
Yup, that means we are taking “Knit Nite” down the road to Elm Street.
The first screening is scheduled for November 11.
Stay tuned and you will soon find out what we will be showing!

Zach Hackett, owner of the Vickers and Suzanna have been talking about this for while now-and the time feels right.
Winter is coming, let’s huddle and combine all the things we love: crafting, movies, pop-corn and community.

Bring your non-crafting friends and family along.
Liz will teach us how to do it-plus there will be “dropped stitch intermissions!”

Buy your “will call” tickets on our website. The price is $10 per person.
Vickers concession stand will serve up Popcorn, W**e and B**r and non-alcoholic beverages.

EYE CANDY ALERT

The “Guthrie” from Caitlin Hunter/ Boyland Knitworks is an oldie but goodie. The pattern was released in 2018 and Caitlin named it for iconic folk singer/songwriter Woody Guthrie, one of her favorite artists.
We think it’s a timely reminder to go and cast your vote.
And to cast on a new Fall project of course.
To top this off-our model here is Michael Bond, Senior Production Manager at our beloved Three Oaks Music Venue, The Acorn Theater.
Let’s take this as a sign and let’s all sing along, shall we?

It’s a yoked sweater worked seamlessly from the top down with an all-over color work design with simple but beautiful cable ribbing on the sleeve and hem. This weekend Suzanna went to the Mecca that is Rhinebeck and came back alive.
Working with our friends Ann, Beth, Audrey and Ruth from Plied Yarn Co. meant standing in Barn No. 26 in the Plied Yarn booth all day and watching the crowd-thousands of people and thousands of beautiful sweaters passing by and lot’s of friends stopping in.
With not much time to explore the fairgrounds, enjoy this little colorwork parade video.

What an experience.
Highly recommend!

Liz's Sunday Scholl is back. With a new name and a new mission: let's finish it up!

We invite all of you to join Liz on Sunday mornings at the Yarn Haus. The goal is to get all your projects finished before the year ends.

This is NOT a class, just us being creative in community but with Liz’s help and oversight. Still, you will need to sign up through our site. The fee is $10 per Sunday.

Jamie Lewis, owner of M1Yarns in Detroit and the organizer of the Fresh Coast Fiber Festival was a guest speaker at our DAYCAMP event last week.

Having her own Yarn Company, holding dye workshops across Michigan and being the organizer of a Yarn Festival, Jamie certainly has a lot to talk about.

However the biggest question was: “What the hell are you wearing, Jamie???”

We got the facts:

It’s the “Simple Ass-Warmer” and a matching raglan situation for good measure. The skirt pattern is by Colorway Knits. Check this designer out!

Did Jamie make adjustments to the pattern? Yup.
“ I did it solid, instead of stripes. And I did a fold over waistband with elastic in it. “
The yarn Jamie used is a DK Merino held doubled. We are certain you will find that during the Michiana Yarn Crawl this weekend in any of the 10 stores participating. We are one of them.

So, there you have it.
