This is Wednesday WIP Night in Summer at the Haus.
For the ones that missed our gathering this week-here is where we are at, dear friends.
Kelly is back from Paris & Copenhagen, where she worked on this little NORO number while on planes, boats, bikes and automobiles.
Paula is almost done with the last panel of her “Riggies Vest.”
Elisabeth is working on “The Fizz” -using a boucle yarn we hand-dyed last week.
Jackie is making socks.
Renee is back to her beautiful shawl using that linen cotton blend from Urth Yarn.
Marie is about to sew on the bottoms on this darling baby cardigan.
Mary is working on many things-we have lost count.
Valerie is as always quietly mastering a rather complex sweater.
Jennifer is tinkering with her “inner child “scrappy mohair situation, amongst three other projects not shown here.
Zoe, our newest member just casted on a “Sophie.”
Rose is making a “Sabai Top” using a recycled Denim yarn.
Sylvia discovered the wonderful world of knitting socks.
Suzanna is almost done with the yoke of yup, the “Ranunculus.”
And Kiki? Kiki crochets.

We cherish these nights of togetherness with you all-what a wonderful crew we are. Now, stay cool and hydrated-and we will see you next Wednesday.

Love,
Elisabeth & Suzanna

P.S. We do welcome guys. Come on!

Yeah!!!
Sunday School is back!
Join in! We have missed you all.

As before we are drilling down on techniques and proper finishing with this series. Our goal is to get you ready for the big Fall and Winter sweater projects we know you are all dreaming of. This little boot camp held on three Sunday Mornings in August will get you there.

Teacher: Liz Vaitkus

Time: 10am-NOON

Dates: August 2, 9 and 16.

Fun fact: we will be knitting a child's size sweater! That gives us the class time to truly hone in on the details of the roll neck, the sleeves and to perfect this raglan method. It will make us go fast and methodical. Actually, it will makes us unstoppable, hah!

FINE PRINT:
Pattern included in fee, needles and yarn are not. Fee covers all three classes. If you can't make a class-you can catch up on a Wednesday during Knit Nite or through video texts with your teacher. For the overachiever, yes, the pattern will also give you an adult size version, in class however we will make the kid's version. Trust the process, friends!

xoxo

The date for our Fall Day Camp has been set. Early birds can now sign up and secure their spot to join in on MONDAY, September 28 right here in Three Oaks.

We can’t wait to do it again, this time as a Fall Edition. Think Yarn Tastings, Color Work, Cable Work and all things Holiday.
While we are still working on the exact line up of classes and presenters and will post about it excessively in the weeks to come-expect the same level of creativity and inspiration, local foods and lots of learnings.

Thank you to all the fiber enthusiasts that joined us in May. We loved spending time with all of you. Check out our little recap video, then call a friend and convince her to play hooky with you again, on Monday, September 28.

A big shout out to all that helped make our first DAYCAMP happen: Chef Reyna Larson, Massage Therapist Kenneth James, Pattern Designer Ruth Boelkins, Exbury Farm’s Andy and Michelle Baker, Vera from Videnovich Farms and Knit Wear Designer Kat Amundsen.
And of course the GH Yarn Haus team of teachers, dreamers and amazing humans: Liz Vaitkus, Rosemarie Skov, Chris Hadaway, Barbara Englebert, Patience Petro, Kiki Belloc, Heston, Elisabeth Rienks, our “Pimp My Sweater” Girl Kelli Johnson and Wesley Moguel.

Love,
Suzanna and the Gang

We are big fan of boucle yarn around here-to the point that Liz developed a super cool pattern especially for the Hedgehog Fiber’s Alpaca Boucle.
We called it “The Fizz Top.”
The sample shown here uses color way “Sweat Pea” and was made for the skinny Minnie Mannequin in the shop, a very unrealistic size.
Hence Liz wrote and tested the pattern in 3 real human sizes.

“The Fizz” is worked from the top down in one piece. The unique shaping is achieved by three different sections of increases on the yoke. A generous neckline and a slight saddle shoulder updates the silhouette from the classic top down raglan.
The design fits close to the bust with a flirty flare at the hip. And Alpaca Boucle is a very malleable fiber that will shape to the wearer. This is a versatile pattern and you can adjust the length.
The best news: no short rows, friends!

Anyhow, you can download the pattern on our site, and get the yarn there as well-or come in and we will print it for you. The color “Sweat Pad” is almost gone-but check all the other wonderful skeins.
Michelle made hers already and Elisabeth just cast on.
So fun, so fizzy.

Enjoy!

New Yarn in the Haus: come and touch “The Fuzzy” from family-owned Peruvian company KINUA located in Lima.

Working with a variety of leaves, Andean flowers, roots and vegetable waste their expertise in natural dyeing has created not just a magical substance but also an exquisite color palette.

"The Fuzzy" is a very ethereal blend, with a soft halo and a cloud-like finish. What also struck us is the unusual combination of baby alpaca from Peru, super fine kid mohair from South Africa, and silk from China. This blend brings together three of the world’s most cherished fibers in one truly beautiful yarn.

What shall we create with this?

New to socks?
Or a pro that wants inspiration?
You will learn new tricks every Friday from Chris Hadaway and Rosemarie Skov, two experienced sock knitters:
We believe that handmade socks rule.
We also think socks are the perfect pocket project.

In this series of classes we will address
-how to size and fit your socks
-different heel techniques
-make ‘em cuff-down or toe-up
-different materials

The classes will be drop-in classes, no need to commit to the whole series.
We are able to acommodate total beginners.

-Materials are NOT included in the class fees and we kindly ask that the yarn will be or was purchased here at the Haus.
-This series is inspired by the Book “The Sock Project” by Summer Lee who has been knitting colorful socks and designing patterns for over 20 years.

New Substance Alert!
Fibrland’s "Bubbly Boucle" is here.

Hand-dyed by fiber artist, goat farmer and merchant Amélie Blanchard in Montebello, Quebec, "Bubbly Boucle" is a super fun yarn that brings texture and big bang color to the most basic stitches.

We think this is ideal for creating fabulous fast knits. Elisabeth is almost finished with a simple cropped vest, Suzanna is about to cast on ( same pattern, but in yellow and aqua) -and we predict that in no time, this will become part of our uniform. Bubbly indeed!

Thank you, Amelie for creating so much joy!
Your colors are amazing.
