Making art at Lourdes taught me how to see myself differently, and I’ll carry that long after the doors close.

Mis bebés también son sonajas, son un llamado a la acción, un grito de ayuda.
Es triste y desgarrador ver la continua autorización de la deforestación en la selva peruana. Estas acciones están afectando el medio ambiente, destruyendo la fauna y la flora, y perjudicando a las comunidades indígenas que dependen del bosque para sus hogares y su supervivencia.
¿Por qué los líderes alrededor del mundo continúan tomando decisiones que destruyen los bosques y amenazan a las comunidades indígenas? ¿Por qué eligen el poder y la codicia por encima de la protección de la vida, la cultura y el futuro de nuestro planeta?

Entiendo que las ciudades y los países necesitan desarrollarse y crecer, pero ¿por qué no podemos proteger el medio ambiente y a las futuras generaciones mientras hacemos eso?

Hoy más que nunca, hago un llamado a mis hermanes peruanos:
POR FAVOR elijan líderes que trabajen por el pueblo y por el medio ambiente, líderes que escuchen a las comunidades indígenas y que protejan nuestros bosques, nuestra biodiversidad y nuestro futuro.

Nuestro voto es nuestra voz.
Nuestro voto puede proteger la vida.

Bringing the magic of the peruvian jungle.
Inspired by Huayruro seeds, red and black seeds found in many parts of the Amazon, woven into bracelets and gifted to babies for protection against evil eye, bad energy and to bring good luck.
Part of Limpia, a collaboration with installed in the Glass Pavilion store at the Toledo Museum of Art in correlation with Cursed, an exhibition of ancient magical objects. A must see 🖤♥️

Please join us for our last Student Art Exhibition at Lourdes University this Saturday March 28th from 6-8 pm at the Canticle Center in Sylvania. The show runs through April 18th.

My intentions this spring are to be outside touching the soil, moss, smelling flowers, take tons of selfies with flowers, wait anxiously for my peonies and lilacs to bloom , feel the textures of the trees, look for mushrooms, observe the birds and listen to their songs, and admire butterflies, as often as I can.
This was one the heaviest winters, physically and emotionally I feel depleted, but sunny days, lush trees and visiting the frogs make me feel optimistic about everything.

So excited to be teaching the birdhouse workshop at the Toledo Museum of Art this week.
Here are some of my favorites from our workshops at Alverno Studio. Our students put so much creativity and care into their designs, and I couldn’t be prouder of their beautiful work. I love seeing each unique piece come to life. I can’t wait to see what we create this week. 🐣🕊️ Thanks for the inspiration. 💚
