“Fresh Cut Garden” won best of show at our Topeka quilt show last weekend! I feel very privileged to have quilted this for Lennis Courtney! Her attention to detail with her embroidery and wool applique amaze me! 😍 I love the vivid colors of the wool and the scalloped border make it an heirloom piece. The wool pieces are very close together in places, so I tried to squeeze in as much detail as I could. Enjoy the close up detail and marvel at her handwork!

What a lovely weekend at the quilt show! I feel very privileged to have quilted 8 quilts that hung in the show. 6 were eligible for ribbons. The other two were the Opportunity quilt and the 2024 Best of Show that I quilted for Lennis Courtney. As the featured quilter this year, Lennis displayed many of her beautiful pieces. She once again won the Best of Show!! Melissa Hungerford won a blue ribbon and Sandi Cox won a white!
I am very grateful for these ladies and everyone who trusts me with their quilts! It is a honor to add a piece of my art to their special projects they sometimes spend years making. These will all become family heirlooms.
Congrats to all who displayed their quilts this weekend! It was a great show!

Before July slips away, here is another patriotic quilt that I finished for Susan. I loved the shades of the solids with the classic quilt design. The simple pantograph was striking on this quilt.

I love this pantograph Barbie Mills Modern Digital Pantographs put out just in time to use on Susan’s quilt. It fills in the negative space well!

Happy 4th of July! I am thankful to live in the home of the free because of the brave that founded our country and those who continue to fight for our freedoms.

Happy 4th of July week! I hope you feel the excitement that our country has reached this milestone! 🇺🇸 I love that several of my clients made quilts to commemorate this anniversary.

I love the elements that Jamia included in this quilt, especially the years. The houses remind me of the historic houses that are so prevalent in New England. I hope this quilt is treasured for many years!

County fair time is almost here! Have you ever entered one of your quilts in the fair? It is a great way to show your community, especially younger generations, how beautiful and varied the art of quilting is. I would encourage you to check your county’s 4-H page and learn the requirements.

The Shawnee County Fair quilt show is Friday, July 24, with the deadline to enter of July 14.

The attached pictures are the form for this year and how to make a quilt sleeve. If you need a form I can print one for you.

Or here is the link to print off a form. But it is an older form so please remember the deadline for this year to enter is July 14.

Are you making a patriotic quilt this summer to celebrate America’s 250th birthday? I love the Rolling Hills Sparkle pantograph that Susan chose! It added some curves to a quilt full of straight lines. And how cute is the backing fabric??
