County fair time is almost here! Have you ever entered one of your quilts in the fair? It is a great way to show your community, especially younger generations, how beautiful and varied the art of quilting is. I would encourage you to check your county’s 4-H page and learn the requirements.

The Shawnee County Fair quilt show is Friday, July 24, with the deadline to enter of July 14.

The attached pictures are the form for this year and how to make a quilt sleeve. If you need a form I can print one for you.

Or here is the link to print off a form. But it is an older form so please remember the deadline for this year to enter is July 14.

Consider sharing your art with the world! If you hesitate to enter because of judging, you can just mention that on the form if you don’t want it judged.

Are you making a patriotic quilt this summer to celebrate America’s 250th birthday? I love the Rolling Hills Sparkle pantograph that Susan chose! It added some curves to a quilt full of straight lines. And how cute is the backing fabric??

I love this quilt because it looks like you are looking through a window at a beautiful and very colorful flower garden! The fabrics Carla chose really make the quilt. I used wool batting and custom quilting to make the flowers pop. Each block has a little bee flying through the garden. It is fun to add little details that you have to look for.

Quilt Show alert! 🚨
Sunflower Piecemakers Quilt Guild in Ottawa is having their show on Saturday, April 25 from 10-4. It will be held at the Goppert Center at 15th and Ash streets.

I have several clients who will have quilts in the show, so stop by and see some pretty quilts!

How cute is this quilt? The chicken wire panto is perfect for the barnyard! I love the fabrics and embroidery touches that Natalie chose for her animals. Such attention to detail!

This quilt is full of details!!! Between Donna’s fussy cutting and appliqué and my quilting, this quilt tells a story! I love the modern colors and the Tula Pink and Kaffe Fassett fabrics she chose. I added a bee hive and swarm, butterflies, hungry caterpillars and even a chrysalis. This was such a fun quilt to work on! Thank you to Donna for trusting me with her creation!

If you would like to see it in person, it will be on display at the Lawrence quilt show this weekend. It is held at Crown Toyota is Lawrence. Saturday 10-5 and Sunday 10-3. I’m sure there will be many beautiful quilts to see.

Feels like spring inside and outside today! I’m lucky to get to stare at these colors on a client quilt this week! It is filled with Tula Pink and Kaffe Fassett fabrics. 😍

I recently finished this amazing quilt for Kathleen. She embroidered all the scenes and colored them in with colored pencils. The amount of detail she included amazes me! Some areas had just two stitches before she knotted off and began another color. 🤯 I used my quilting to add to the story of the witches on their way to quilt retreat.
This was very fun for me to work on. Thanks Kathleen for trusting me with your special quilt!

Happy 250th birthday to the United States of America! I was honored to quilt the opportunity quilt for the Kansas Capital Quilt Guild. I chose a series of pantographs by Judy Lyon to honor our country. If you look closely you can find George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, the Constitution, Liberty Bell, White House, an eagle, Lincoln and Washington monuments, among many stars.

It has officially been 3 years since I opened Bound and Blessed Quilt Studio! I am so glad I took the leap of faith and put my creative heart on the line to open my own longarm business. I am constantly trying to learn new things and improve my quilting skills. Swipe to see my first free motion feather attempt soon after receiving my machine in October 2022 and how far I have progressed. Be brave enough to try the hard thing and keep working at it!

Thank you to all who have trusted me with their quilts over the last three years! I feel so blessed to be a part of all the special projects that come through my studio.
