Nobody moves into a home and says, "Perfect. Done."

It takes time. A wall color that finally clicks. A piece of furniture you almost gave away and then reupholstered. A corner that sat empty for two years before you found exactly the right thing.

That is how it is supposed to work.

Home is not a project with a finish line. It grows with you. It holds your seasons.

You all know I love traveling the globe, but I have to say… we have so many very special places right here in the 518! I was walking along the river today with John enjoying the farmers market and local shops just soaking up how special is. It’s so magical!!! We live in such a special area! Then we ended the day enjoying restaurants and shops in which was a different kind of magic! A modern farmhouse bedroom works because of contrast. Soft textiles against raw wood. Clean lines with layered warmth. That tension is what makes the style feel collected rather than cold.

Start with your anchor piece, usually the bed or a statement headboard. Build your palette from there. Layer in texture through throw blankets, a chunky knit, linen pillow covers. Add one organic element, wood, rattan, or stone, to keep it grounded.
