I am not a car person, but as my time with this car comes to an end I am feeling the pain of nostalgia and the love with which it was given to me. My grandma gave me this car 10 years ago as her battle with cancer was coming to an end. I remember worrying how she was going to get around when she got better, holding on to hope and denial. The last time I saw her was backing away in this car and since I have cried so many tears in it missing her, figuring out how to get myself out of sticky situations, trying to calm down, hanging onto the steering wheel when i dont want to be here. The one accident pinned mine between two cars. I remember the sound and impact as I pictured her saying to herself as she signed away the title, "this is a good car, a safe car." The two other cars were towed away as I drove off in the impala without even a dent. I love that she has the ability to bless me even after she's gone and I hope to be such a person. I have seen sunsets that catch my breath, made a living, run off to the desert when I cant deal, brought my kids to and from school, taken the love of my life to countless dates and places. This has been a good car, a safe car
