Lorraine Edminster Interiors

Lorraine Edminster Interiors Interior Design Studio Living or working spaces should be inspiring. Designers are privy to extraordinary options available only to the trade.

Inside and out, colors and lighting should flow, surprises should lurk here
and there, texture should invite interaction, and everything should be well-designed
and intentional. I like spaces to be comfortable yet stimulating,
creating mood, energy and a distinct and personal sense of place. Beginning a new project, I like to see “the big picture” by synthesizing the
needs of the client, architect

and, perhaps landscape designer. In two recent
Josias Joesler renovations, I was interested in restoring spaces to the original
intended state. My clients were very contemporary, however, so my goal
became to uphold Joesler’s intent while creating interior and exterior
spaces that were meaningful and fresh. A world of choices requires an experienced eye for editing and arranging
both spatially and conceptually. On the other hand, I frequently design
furnishings, hardware or lighting that I have in mind for a specific use,
employing local artisans to handcraft them. These "made in Tucson" pieces
are more personal, often better suited to our desert environment,
and can be less expensive as well. My designs are in production demand
through several workrooms including the exclusive furniture manufacturer
Arroyo Design, Perry Design, and the refined yet rustic Diablo Forge. I am a Tucson native, educated at California College of the Arts in Oakland,
California and graduated with honors from Parsons School of Design in
New York City. I returned to Tucson in 1990, and have been creating interiors
here ever since. My work has been widely published regionally, and has
received several awards from The American Society of Interior Designers
for residential and commercial interiors and product design.
